Chapter 271 Take Her Away

+5 Pearls.

Get her out of here! Unless she’s invited, she’s not allowed anywhere near this house again!

The security team moved without hesitation. They seized Laura and hauled her toward the door, showing no mercy.

Laura panicked, her voice breaking as she screamed up the stairs. Mom! Mom, please, just see me! Mom, it’s Laura! I’m your daughter, the one you loved most!

The shrill shrieking caught Winona’s attention.

Winona, pale and shaken, actually appeared at the top of the staircase, gripping the railing to steady herself.

Laura saw her and broke down, clinging to her last hope. “Mom! Please, look at me! I know my sister’s back, and I’ll give her everything, I promise. I just want to stay with you both. I don’t care about anything else, Mom, please

But the eyes that met hers were nothing like the gentle, loving gaze she remembered. Winona’s eyes were bloodshot, filled with pain and fury.

Winona looked right through her, as if she could see every bit of suffering her real daughter had endured. Grief and anger collided, stripping away any restraint she had left.

A sharp slap rang out in the foyer, silencing Laura’s cries in an instant.

Winona’s hand trembled, but her voice was colder than Gabriel’s, her words final. Get out. You’re not my daughter. My child is upstairs, in agony. This is all your fault. Leave. Don’t ever come back. Never show yourself to us again, and never upset Denisse again.

Before she finished, a faint alert from the medical robot floated down from upstairs. Denisse let out another strangled, broken cry, making it clear she’d been disturbed.

Winona’s face drained of all color. She didn’t spare Laura another glance. She turned and raced back upstairs, nearly stumbling in her rush.

Gabriel’s eyes grew even colder. He snapped at the guards, What are you standing around for? Get her out.

Laura collapsed, hopeless, as the security team dragged her away from the mansion. Her sobs faded down the drive until silence filled the house.

The living room was left heavy and suffocating.

Gabriel pressed his fingers to his brow and walked over to Winona, who had sunk to the floor

by the bedroom door, her face ashen and her whole body limp with exhaustion. He pulled her into his arms, holding her close.

Winona leaned into him, finally breaking down. Her sobs wracked her body, her voice rough and raw. Gabrielwhat are we supposed to dowhat about our DenisseThe doctor said her damage level spiked again. It’s unstable, and if this keeps upthe core collapse is only a matter of timeWe only just got her backare we really supposed to watch her slip away right in front of us

Gabriel held her tight, his jaw clenched, his Adam’s apple bobbing as he tried to speak. No words came.

Every medical report said the same thing: irreversible mental power decay was still a death

sentence, even now.

That kind of helplessness could break anyone, even a soldier.

No one knew how long they stayed like that. Eventually, Winona’s sobs faded into hollow, exhausted hiccups.

She lifted her head, her gaze empty and distant, finally noticing the piece of paper in Gabriel’s hand.

What’s that? Her voice was rough, barely a whisper.

Gabriel remembered Andrew’s letter.

He took a deep, shaky breath, unfolded the paper, and tried to sound casual. Andrew sent something over, said it’s a present for Denisse. He was all mysterious about it and insisted I sign for it myself.

They both looked at the letter.

Andrew’s handwriting was bold, but the message was earnest. He described in detail how his own mental state had improved after eating strawberries, potatoes, and sweet potatoes.

He’d attached screenshots of reviews that Lilith had collected from the Interstellar Tycoon

account.

He ended by saying that whether it was strawberries or potatoes or sweet potatoes, they were the best things he’d ever tasted.

He admitted he didn’t know if these foods would really help with mental power, but he hoped they’d at least make Denisse’s appetite better and lift her spirits.

For a brief moment, hope flickered in both their eyes.
