Chapter 386 Too Late to Fix
Not only had it attracted eager pursuit from the kingdom’s top social circles, even the military had given it full support, sending large numbers of injured and disabled soldiers there for treatment and recovery.
Cosmos Group could have relied on that tiny bit of goodwill from back then, when they had made an exception and allowed Elizabeth to hitch a ride on a recycling ship, to become one of the farm’s closest partners.
At the very least, they would not have ended up in such an awkward position now.
If they had not rushed to cut ties so quickly, it might even have counted as timely support.
Just look at what happened to NovaSea Transport.
Because of a single act of arrogance by a shareholder’s daughter, the entire company and its affiliates had been permanently blacklisted. Their stock price crashed, partnerships collapsed, and employees left in droves.
It was practically a textbook example of how to ruin yourself by offending the farm.
And what about Cosmos Group?
They had not had a direct conflict, but their decision to shut down the station had essentially been like pulling away a ladder just when the farm needed a stable external route the most.
Even though they had followed procedure and sent a “polite” notice afterward and had even thought they were being proper and considerate at the time.
But from Elizabeth’s and the farm’s perspective back then, it probably felt no different from kicking them while they were down.
“So… what do we do now?” another shareholder asked irritably. “Should we… reach out to the farm? Show some kind of apology? Or see if there’s any chance of cooperation? Maybe logistics? Or we could use our high-end retail chains…”
“Reach out? With what?” the group’s president rubbed his aching temples, his voice tired. “We don’t even dare to send people to the farm privately to buy some produce under personal names using Cosmos Group’s identity. We’re afraid their system will flag us and connect us to the decision to shut down the station, then label us as a ‘potentially unfriendly affiliated party. If that happens, forget cooperation. We might not even be able to buy their products as individuals anymore.”
That was exactly what they feared the most.
The farm’s blacklist system, which looked simple and blunt but was actually efficient and strict, combined with Elizabeth’s clear-cut approach to loyalty and grudges, made them extremely cautious.
They did not even dare to publicly express goodwill or interest toward the farm, afraid that any move might backfire.
“But are we just going to sit here and watch?” someone said unwillingly. “Other shipping companies are making huge profits by restoring routes. Families and businesses connected to the farm might gain long-

term benefits. Are we, Cosmos Group, just going to be left out like this?”
“What else do you want to do? Go tell Ms. Schofield that shutting down the station was our mistake, that we were blind, and beg her for another chance?” someone said sarcastically, his tone filled with frustration and helplessness.
The meeting room fell into silence once again.
The air was heavy with regret, anxiety, and a faint fear of unknown consequences,
They had once believed they understood the situation clearly and had made the most “correct” decision according to business logic. They had not realized they were stepping into a pit of their own making.
Now, all they could do was watch as Planet A001 grew more prosperous by the day, as Tycoon Farm’s influence expanded like a snowball rolling downhill, and as other competitors did everything they could to build connections with the farm.
Meanwhile, Cosmos Group had been cut off by an invisible barrier because of that “decisive” choice. They did not even dare to get too close.
The older shareholder who had once raised objections sat quietly in the corner. He looked at the news reports showing the farm’s booming success, then at his colleagues in the room, all looking defeated, and felt a mix of emotions.
He remembered the weak warning he had given during that meeting, which had been ignored. He remembered how arrogance had led them to dismiss human relationships, potential value, and long-term planning.
Unfortunately, there was no such thing as a second chance.
All they could do now was sit in the gloom they had created, swallowing the bitter consequences of their shortsightedness, waiting for a turnaround that might never come.
Perhaps maintaining the current situation was already the best outcome they could hope for.
