Chapter 61: CAR LAUNCH

Abigail

"Whoa, damn, slow down, sexy."

I laughed, caught myself from taking another step and turning around. Eric was three steps behind me, his long legs eating up the distance between us.

His brown tuxedo jacket already slightly askew but he cleaned up nicely. When he had called yesterday asking if I wanted to come to the launch with him, I didn’t see a reason to say no.

He was nice, he was funny as fuck, and I needed to cut this obsession with my boss.

Annette was right after all. I couldn’t continue messing around with him and expect not to get caught.

Besides I had bigger things to worry about. Two days ago, I found out my parents death were possibly a part of something bigger. Something much more dangerous.

When I got home, Annette and I had say down researching on the company they used to work for, but they were closed down already due to a fire incident.

A coincidence? I doubted it.

Raymond had said not to contact him but he didn’t say anything about not investigating for myself. If we couldn’t find the answers on the web, then I would just have to pay Mom and Dad’s old company ruins a visit.

"Hello, earth to Abby?"

"I’m sorry," I chuckled, checking the Todo list on my tablet while waiting for him to catch up. The hall was packed. It housed some five hundred guests, seated around round tables, all dressed in dashing suits and ball gowns.

Golden lights moved across the hall, Wolfe’s employees were seated in a section and most of them were currently watching Ted try to chug down a whole bottle of wine.

"I just need to check on the visual team and then I’m all yours, I promise."

"You invited me as your plus one and then sprinted away from me the second we walked in." Eric fell into step beside me, grinning. "I’m beginning to think you don’t actually like me."

"Oh, what gave it away?" I cocked my head to the side, arching a brow. "The dress, or me working on the side?"

"Both," He quipped, running his eyes down my burgundy dress, giving a low groan. "Though I’ll admit multitasking is very sexy."

I swatted his chest and turned to continue strutting through the spaces between the tables. "Everything I do is very sexy, Eric, keep up."

"Yes ma’am," He laughed behind me. The performers on stage had the crowd’s attention for maybe another twelve minutes before the program moved and I needed to confirm the presentation was ready before Mr Wolfe’s speech.

I had promised him it would be perfect.

My burgundy satin dress didn’t make walking fast easy though. It draped off the shoulder, the crystals along the neckline catching every golden light glimmer in the room.

There were pleats at the hips and a long slit on my right thigh that opened with every stride I took. My tits jiggled with each step, tightly packed and pushed up against the deep neckline, those crystals wiggling around them.

I looked sexy, I knew I did and I sure as hell deserved to look sexy after busting my ass for three months trying to make this event perfect.

I found the visual team lead at the side panel. They ran through the slideshow twice, confirmed the backup was loaded, the clicker was charged and Mr Wolfe would have absolutely no problems during his presentation.

Wonderful.

"Eric, come on, you can’t keep following me around," I pointed toward our table. "Please go sit, I’ll be back? Please?"

He gave me an impish grin."You keep saying that."

"And I keep being right. Go, I’ll just tell Mr Wolfe his presentation is ready and I’ll be all yours for the evening,"

"Lies," He chuckled, taking my hand in his and bringing it up to his lips. "I’ll be waiting anyway,"

Why didn’t the butterflies in my stomach flutter at that, god, he was so sweet.

Yet just the mere thought of walking to Mr Wolfe’s desk and the butterflies fluttered and flapped and jibby jabbered everywhere as I crossed the floor toward his table.

God, that suit.
