Eleanor Vance’s eyes glinted. "Mrs. Sloan, with that foul mouth of yours, calling people wretches one after another, you still expect Dr. Vance to see you? In your dreams."
"You!!!" Laura Jennings was livid and lunged forward, raising her hand to slap Eleanor Vance!
"Nathaniel!" Noelle Lockwood called out just in time, her voice soft and weak, her eyes filled with tears. "You’re here."
’Nathaniel?’
Laura Jennings’s hand froze mid-air. She turned and, sure enough, saw her son.
Her eyes lit up, and she instantly felt emboldened.
’Mrs. Kendrick just insulted me, and everyone heard it. Nathaniel is my son; he can’t possibly refuse to back up his own mother, can he?’
Laura Jennings planted her hands on her hips, lifted her chin, and announced arrogantly, "Do you know who my son is? He’s a shareholder in this hospital! All of you, get out of my way! Get that Dr. Vance out here, or she can forget about working in this hospital ever again!"
Nathaniel Sloan’s expression suddenly turned cold.
While Laura Jennings was still posturing, Nathaniel Sloan spoke coldly, "So my name is that useful? It lets you throw your weight around in a hospital?"
Laura Jennings had been eagerly waiting for Nathaniel Sloan to help her vent her anger, but instead, she got this. She nearly choked.
"Nathaniel, what do you mean, ’throw my weight around’? It’s these doctors who are being unreasonable! Poor Noelle, I bring her here to see a doctor, and they actually expect me to queue up and get a number? Do you know who I am? How can I be treated like those commoners outside!"
"Nathaniel, you don’t understand. I don’t know what that Yara Lockwood did, but she somehow convinced Dr. Vance not to treat Noelle. She even had Mrs. Kendrick mock Noelle. I just couldn’t swallow that insult—"
Nathaniel Sloan’s expression grew darker and darker. "Enough!"
Laura Jennings instantly fell silent.
Nathaniel Sloan’s gaze swept coldly over Noelle Lockwood. "The hospital has clear rules that everyone must queue. This is a hospital. By causing a scene here, are you expecting me to tear the hospital down to appease Noelle Lockwood? Or do you want me to kick out Mrs. Kendrick and force her to apologize to Noelle Lockwood?"
Laura Jennings retorted indignantly, "This hospital is yours anyway. I can do whatever I want, and it’s nobody’s business. So what if you tear it down!"
Noelle Lockwood and Rose Lowell kept their heads down and said nothing, but it was clear the mother and daughter thought the same.
’This hospital belongs to Nathaniel Sloan. No matter how powerful the Kendrick Family is, they should be the ones to get lost.’
As for whether this would affect the relationship between Evernight International and the Kendrick Group, in Rose Lowell’s mind, Mrs. Kendrick was just a woman. How much influence could she possibly have?
Nathaniel Sloan’s expression remained unchanged. "First, I am not the largest shareholder in this hospital. The Kendrick Family is. The only way to kick the Kendrick Family out would be for the hospital to go bankrupt and shut down. Mother, do you believe Noelle Lockwood is that important?"
Noelle Lockwood’s face turned pale. Laura Jennings, however, remained stubborn. "It’s just one hospital. If it goes bankrupt, it goes bankrupt. How much money could you lose? It’s not like you’re short on cash!"
Nathaniel Sloan didn’t even lift his eyelids. "The loss would be around ten billion. If you can afford that sum, Mother, then fine. I’ll announce Evernight’s immediate withdrawal."
Laura Jennings’s words caught in her throat, and her expression turned awkward.
’Around ten billion... Where-where would she get that much money? But she wasn’t ready to give up.’
"But what right does Mrs. Kendrick have to mock Noelle? Noelle is innocent and kind; she just wanted to meet Dr. Vance. Then Mrs. Kendrick claims Noelle offended Dr. Vance. Isn’t that just baseless nonsense? She’s clearly just trying to frame Noelle!"
