The moment the words left his mouth, a commotion erupted from the audience.
Rose Lowell’s face flushed with excitement. "Noelle, did you hear that!"
The others also looked toward Noelle Lockwood.
At this point, nearly everyone had tacitly agreed that Noelle Lockwood was the original designer of the perfume and Yara Lockwood was the plagiarist.
Nathaniel Sloan’s words were surely meant to stand up for Noelle Lockwood.
Someone trying to curry favor said, "The rumors all say President Sloan will marry no one but Miss Noelle. Seeing this now, it must be true. President Sloan is so deeply in love with Miss Noelle!"
"Yes, yes, such a grand display just to get an apology for Miss Noelle. Who wouldn’t be envious?"
"Miss Noelle is so lucky. President Lockwood, Mrs. Lockwood, you have such a good daughter!"
"Apologizing in a situation like this is a huge loss of face... President Sloan isn’t giving Star Group any face at all. Miss Noelle, congratulations!"
The crowd’s veiled, mocking gazes fell on Estelle Lockwood. She didn’t think much of it, but Henry Kendrick frowned.
’These people from the Lockwood family are truly disgusting. When Yara found biological parents like them back then, I can’t imagine how she survived those two years.’
After the others had had their fill of envy, Noelle Lockwood said, blushing shyly, "I didn’t expect Nathaniel to care about me so much..."
"Hmph, if Nathaniel doesn’t care about you, who else would he care about?" Rose Lowell said pointedly.
"My daughter is well-bred and polite, not like some people who are good for nothing but flirting around and doing sneaky, petty things!"
Estelle Lockwood hadn’t wanted to pay her any mind, but Rose Lowell was as annoying as a fly. "Ms. Lowell, the plagiarist’s name hasn’t been announced yet. I’d advise you not to get ahead of yourself."
Rose Lowell laughed at this. She put her hands on her hips, her voice rising even higher.
"Ha! The whole world knows you’re the shameless bitch who plagiarized my daughter’s formula! Still talking tough when you’re at death’s door. Have you no shame?!"
Austin Lockwood also frowned. "Miss Yara Lockwood, Nathaniel has made himself so clear. Isn’t it obvious who he’s pointing at? The Lockwood Family was originally going to leave you with a shred of dignity, but please, don’t go too far!"
Noelle Lockwood’s eyes reddened as she secretly shed tears.
The people around them couldn’t stand it anymore. "The plagiarist not only feels no guilt, but she’s also this arrogant?"
"I think she needs to be taught a lesson! Back when the Lockwood family’s real daughter plagiarized Miss Noelle, President Lockwood and Mrs. Lockwood righteously disowned their own kin. Yet this Yara Lockwood is still so ungrateful!"
"That’s right. The fact that President Lockwood and Mrs. Lockwood exposed their own biological daughter’s plagiarism to protect their adopted daughter shows they’re reasonable people. The fact that Yara Lockwood can still anger them just shows how outrageous she is..."
Noelle Lockwood lowered her head, the corners of her lips curling into a smile she couldn’t suppress.
’So what if she stole Estelle Lockwood’s perfume formula and took all the credit?’
’No one believed Estelle Lockwood. Didn’t even Estelle Lockwood’s own biological parents side with me without a second thought?’
’It was like that before, and it will be like that today.’
’Who the hell does Yara Lockwood think she is, daring to compete with me? Once she’s branded a plagiarist, let’s see how long she can hold onto her position as Chief Perfumer!’
Thinking this, Noelle Lockwood said with feigned helplessness, "Mom, stop it. I know Miss Yara Lockwood isn’t happy about this, but... the facts are right in front of us. There’s nothing that can’t be admitted."
"As Perfumers, we should follow our hearts, not plagiarize others’ work for fame and profit."
Noelle Lockwood had just finished her sanctimonious speech, and before Rose Lowell could even sing her praises, Nathaniel Sloan on the stage began to speak again.
"After a joint investigation by Evernight International and the police, the result of this plagiarism incident has been determined. The original creator of this perfume is..."
