His voice dropped deliberately low and husky, thick with suggestive undertones. “It’s been so long since we’ve been alone together.”
Riley made no effort to struggle, not even bothering to turn her head.
She simply lowered her eyes, staring calmly at his hand wrapped around her wrist.
“You’ve forgotten what the doctor warned me? Intimacy this month could trigger another severe hemorrhage.”
Her tone held no trace of emotion, instantly dousing the fleeting desire flaring in Lucas‘ eyes.
His body stiffened for a split second, the pressure of his grip loosening almost unconsciously.
Lucas quickly recovered his composure, slipping into a tender, loving facade, his tone soft and plaintive. “It’s alright. I don’t need anything else. I just want to hold you while we sleep. I’ve missed you, Riley.”
I’ve missed you.
Those hollow words churned intense nausea inside Riley.
She didn’t even have to wonder. While she’d been away on her work trip these past few days, the bed she’d shared with him for three years had been used by Sophia over and over, reeking of another woman’s presence. It grossed her out completely, deep down in her body and soul.
Riley turned to face him, gently pulling her wrist free from his grasp. “Don’t bother. If you have needs, you can find someone else to satisfy them. I won’t mind at all.”
Lucas‘ expression darkened with irritation, yet he masked it with a sorrowful sigh.
He reached out to brush a strand of hair from her face, only for Riley to dodge the gesture subtly.
“Fine.” Lucas relented, putting on the act of a considerate husband. “I won’t push you. Get some rest. I don’t want you constantly suspecting me of being unfaithful.”
With that, he turned and walked back into the master bedroom, his posture carrying a hint of lonely grievance as if he’d been wrongfully misunderstood.
Riley watched the door click shut, then walked toward the guest room without a single backward glance.

Moments later, the master bedroom door creaked open again without a sound.
Dressed in a sultry nightgown, Sophia slipped inside like a sleek serpent.

She wrapped her arms around Lucas from behind before he could even take off his dress shirt, her warm breath fanning against the nape of his neck, voice dripping with seductive sweetness. “Lucas…”
Lucas tried to push her away instinctively. “Are you crazy? Riley just left. What if she comes back?”
“She won’t come back.” Sophia tightened her embrace, pressing her body firmly against his broad back. Raw, vengeful madness laced her tone, along with the reckless thrill of throwing caution to the wind. “She doesn’t want you–but I do.”
Stung deeply by Aiden’s harsh words earlier, Sophia had lost all sense of reason.
I need to prove myself more than ever. Prove I’m far more desirable than the cold, unresponsive Riley. Nothing tastes sweeter than taking possession of her husband on her own bed, right under her nose.
Lucas‘ wounded pride from Riley’s cold rejection flared at her words. The lingering annoyance and bruised ego melted away instantly under Sophia’s eager advances.
What little resistance he had crumbled completely beneath her passionate, unrelenting kisses.
Heavy breathing filled the darkened bedroom as the two gave in to their hidden desires, completely unaware of what waited outside the door.
Riley had never truly planned to rest for the night.

Lucas‘ fake tenderness and clumsy acting set off every alarm in her mind the second he spoke.
The door offered decent soundproofing, yet faint, indecent moans still seeped through the
cracks.
Riley closed her eyes slowly. When she opened them again, every trace of warmth had vanished from her gaze.
Calmly pulling out her phone, she activated the video recording function.
The red recording dot blinked steadily as she captured every sordid moment of their betrayal as irrefutable evidence.
Layla stood motionless in the hallway until she’d captured enough footage to lay bare their entire affair. D
