She stretched lazily and reached for her phone on the nightstand.

But as soon as her fingers touched it, the non–stop buzzing startled her.

The screen kept lighting up and dimming like crazy. Call alerts and text notifications from a bunch of unknown numbers filled up the entire notification bar. Her phone battery was dropping at an alarming rate–you could practically watch it go down.

What on earth was going on?

Riley frowned and opened one of the texts. A bunch of nasty insults popped up immediately.

“You bitch! Why don’t you just kick the bucket already!”

She took a deep breath and picked up her tablet instead. When she opened Google and saw the top news story they were featuring, she was completely stunned.

Right at that moment, she had somehow become the latest big news in Havenbrook.

Riley immediately understood.

All those harassing calls and texts she’d just received–they were all from Sophia’s brainwashed fans.

Riley looked at the messages on the screen, all those lies distorting the truth, and all she could think was how absurd it all was.

But she was never one to just sit around and wait for things to happen.
