Chapter 459 A Stupid Man Who Got Played
Riley’s words lit a match to everything Sandra had been choking down for years.

She’d known exactly what kind of man Stephen was since the day she married him, but she’d swallowed it all for the sake of the family and her own pride.
Now, in front of people like Riley and Sebastian, he’d torched every bit of the respectable image she’d spent years building.
The fury boiled over. She spun around and cracked Stephen across the face twice more. The slaps echoed through the room and left him dazed and blinking.
“Ms. Harper’s right! You never change!” Sandra was gasping for breath. “I’ve had it with you! I’m calling a lawyer tomorrow and filing for divorce!”
Stephen’s ears were ringing, but the word “divorce” cut through the fog like a blade. He saw the look in her eyes and knew she meant it this time. Every bone in his body went soft. He dropped to his knees, wrapped his arms around her legs, and started wailing.
“Sandra! No, Sandra, please! I messed up! I’ll never do it again! Please don’t divorce me!”
Sebastian watched the scene with zero interest. His face stayed blank.
“Let’s go,” he said, taking Riley’s hand. His voice had gone soft. “No need to get tangled up in other people’s mess.”
She gave him a small nod and let a smile tug at her mouth. “Okay.”
They walked out together. David was already waiting in the hallway with several of the restaurant’s security staff. He rushed forward when he saw them. “Ms. Harper, are you alright?”
Riley flexed her wrist with a hint of mischief. “A little, actually.”/She made a fist and gave it a small shake. “Threw that wine a bit too hard. My hand’s sore.”
Sebastian reached over and wrapped his fingers gently around her wrist, rubbing slow circles. “I’ll work on it when we get home.” he murmured.
They headed out, leaving the wreckage of Stephen and Sandra behind.
David stood in the corridor with a thoughtful look on his face.
He watched them stroll off, clearly relaxed around one another. It all finally clicked. Riley hadn’t been kidding when she claimed to be Sebastian’s wife yesterday. The Harpers’ long-lost daughter had truly won him over.
They reached the parking lot. Riley pulled open the car door and slid inside, but the air in the car felt heavy.
Sitting beside her, dim light falling over him, Sebastian’s jaw was clenched, and his lips pressed firmly together. He looked much gloomier than he had indoors.
She couldn’t help asking softly, “You’re still mad?”
His voice came out clipped. “Next time you run into scum like that, don’t waste your time. Tell me. I’ll deal with it.”
Riley understood then. Sebastian wasn’t just angry. He was angry that she’d walked into that alone.

She paused, her eyes sharpening as stephen’s Vile words echoed in her mind. “But hom what he said, someone clearly put wrong ideas in his head. They claimed was the kind of woman who sleeps her way to the top that’s why he thought he could pull something.”
The words barely left her mouth/before Sebastian’s expression went even darker. He turned his head and shot her a look, his voice low and sharp. “Are you defending him?”
She couldn’t help the laugh that escaped. He’d completely missed her point. She reached over and pressed her paim against his still-tight jaw.
“No,” she said, shaking her head, her eyes warm. “What I mean is, the real problem is whoever did the smearing. Stephen was just a stupid man who got played.”
