“Riley, you look awful.” Emily was watching her with open worry. “You said you know these two. When they saw you again, they show anything? Any guilt? Anything off?”

Riley let out a cold, broken laugh and shook her head slowly. “No. Nothing.”

“That’s unbelievable.” Emily’s voice dropped, trembling with anger. “I’ve heard these two are big names in Nexopolis high so now. You can’t just let this go. I’ll go back to the director and ask if there’s any evidence left from back then. If there is, you tal the press. So what if they’ve got money and power? Riley stared at Emily’s flushed cheeks and drew a slow, steady breath. The rage welled up, but she forced it back down. “Emil off for now. I’ll handle this my own way,” she said.

She flipped open the menu and buried her eyes in it, hiding the cold that hadn’t yet faded.
