Chapter 501 The Final Fall
Chapter 501 The Final Fall
Once all the commotion died down, only Melissa was left utterly defeated.
Elsie clung to Melissa’s arm, trembling slightly.
She was far more clear-headed than Melissa; she knew that Zavier had drawn a hard line this time.

With Riley exposing so many appalling truths in front of the Torres family, Zavier, for the sake of the Harper family’s reputation and to placate the Torreses, would never allow Melissa to remain his wife.
Divorce was inevitable.
Elsie had never felt any genuine attachment to the so-called family. To her, both Zavier and Riley were merely useful tools on her path to wealth and status.
The only thing she cared about was whether her luxurious life would continue.
Glancing at Melissa, who looked dazed and seemed to have aged a decade in an instant, her swollen eyes devoid of their usual cunning, Elsie bit her lip.
She hesitated for a moment, then leaned in and whispered, “Mom… if Dad really divorces you, will you get a share of the assets?”
But her question didn’t snap Melissa out of it.
Her mind was buzzing, replaying Zavier’s departing words over and over. “You’re free now.”
How could this be happening? The man who had pursued her for most of his life, who had spoiled her beyond reason after marriage, the man she believed would forgive her no matter what; how could he actually want a divorce?
Does he not love me anymore?
Elsie’s eyes flickered with impatience, quickly masked by feigned concern.
She held Melissa’s arm and cooed, “Mom, don’t be so upset. Dad’s just saying that in anger. He cares about you so much. There’s no way he’d really divorce you.”
She paused, then continued, “Right now, he’s just trying to make Riley feel better. Once he cools down, het come back begging for your forgiveness.”
Melissa gripped Elsie’s hand tightly, a faint glimmer of hope returning to her eyes as she nodded frantically. “Yes, that must be it! Your father is just angry; he’s only trying to give Riley some closure…”
Meanwhile, Riley and her party returned to the banquet hall.
Raymond noticed their grim expressions and hurried over, concerned. “What happened?”
“Nothing,” Riley said, clearly unwilling to discuss it further in such a setting.
Just then, Zavier walked over from the lounge, his face stern but composed. He reassured Raymond, “It’s fine. Go tend to the guests.”
Then, checking his watch, he saw it was nearly noon. He turned to Riley. “Riley, go get changed.”

“Alright.” Riley nodded and headed toward the private dressing room adjacent to the hall.
Sebastian, worried, followed her in:
Riley walked straight to the wardrobe and pulled open the doors.

As expected, the gown she had hung in the most prominent spot was ruined; it was drenched in black ink from top to bottom, filthy
and unwearable.
Sebastian’s brow furrowed sharply, his eyes turning cold. “How did this happen? Did Melissa arrange this too?”
“It was her,” Riley said, her tone eerily calm, as if she had anticipated it. “Earlier today, she brought me a dress and insisted I wear it. I refused. Later, I saw on the surveillance footage that Lucas was wearing a suit that matched hers exactly.”
She turned to Sebastian, a sardonic smile curving her lips. “So I figured she’d tamper with the gown I prepared. That’s why I asked you to send a backup.”
With that, she reached into the deepest compartment of the wardrobe.
There, a moon-white gown hung quietly, gleaming with a soft luster.
