Sebastian gently grazed her skin with his lips. His voice was low and raspy as he finally let go of his restraint. He let out a short “Mm” as a reply, then whispered some alluring words into her

ear.

“Sometimes, a change of environment can be quite nice.”

The following morning, Riley had been at the office for a while. She had just finished dealing with several overdue overseas reports when there was a knock on her office door.

Raymond walked in, holding a folder. The cover of the folder was simple, but it gave off an air of secrecy. His expression wasn’t as calm as usual; there was a glint of excitement in his eyes.

“I’ve got some news that you need to hear right away,” Raymond said as he walked up to her desk. He pulled out a chair, sat down, and slid the file over to her.

Riley put down her pen and raised an eyebrow. “If you came here all by yourself, it must be something significant.”

Raymond said seriously, “I just got some insider information. DreamWorld, the most well- known theme park brand in the world, is about to start a new round of strategic expansion. They plan to select five mid-sized cities with the strongest growth potential over the next three years and build brand-new theme parks. Right now, they’re looking for strong local real estate developers to partner with, offering construction rights and partial operating rights.”

“DreamWorld?” Riley ran her fingertips along the cover of the file, and her expression turned solemn.

As a world-class cultural and tourism brand, DreamWorld was like a cash-cow in the business world. It wasn’t just a theme park; it was a huge commercial complex that included movie merchandise, themed hotels, retail stores, and restaurants.

“If we could actually get the construction rights for all five cities, or even just two or three of them, it would be a huge step forward for Harper Group.”

Raymond’s ambition was clearly visible. “This isn’t just about the obvious financial benefits; it’s a direct path to the top in terms of brand reputation. And considering that the consumer potential in mid-sized cities has been growing rapidly in recent years, this opportunity is enough to make any developer drool.”

He looked at Riley earnestly. “I want to put together a specialized bidding team, gather all of Harper Group’s best engineering resources, and go after this once-in-a-lifetime project. Riley, what do you think?”

Riley wasn’t easily swayed by the great temptation. She quietly flipped through the documents, her mind working overtime. Having spent years in Havenbrook dealing with all sorts of business deals, she quickly noticed the potential problems hidden beneath the shiny surface.

“This is definitely worth the effort; it’s probably the biggest opportunity Harper Group has had in the past decade,” Riley said, looking up with clear eyes. “But I have my concerns. When I was in Havenbrook, I had several in-depth conversations with DreamWorld’s top management regarding an overseas investment fund case. They are extremely protective of their brand image.

“DreamWorld’s screening process for franchisees and construction partners is extremely strict. A few years ago, a park in a South American country had a minor accident during an expansion, and DreamWorld didn’t hesitate to pay a huge penalty to break off the partnership with the company they had worked with for ten years.

“After that, they started tightening their external licensing more and more. Even for new projects, they prefer to use their own global construction teams.”

Riley’s concerns were well-founded. “So why would such a careful, even inflexible, multinational company that has been in strategic contraction suddenly throw such a big opportunity into the domestic market without any warning? That doesn’t fit their normal business pattern at all.”

Raymond seemed to have expected this question. He lowered his voice and explained, “That’s exactly what I was going to tell you. Apparently, the brand’s founder has stepped down due to health problems, and control has been passed on to his eldest daughter.

“The new boss is very aggressive. She’s eager to find new growth areas around the world to prove her decision-making skills.”

Riley squinted her eyes slightly.

She had heard about this. In Havenbrook’s high-end social circles, the rich ladies had been gossiping about whether this newly-appointed boss could carry on her father’s legacy or if she would overextend and cause the whole company to collapse.

“The situation is changing, and the people in charge are changing too,” Riley said, lost in thought. “But before we figure out what this new boss really wants, rushing in blindly could just make us pawns for someone else. There’s no use speculating on our own.

“Here’s what we’ll do. This afternoon, when we go to the hospital to see Dad, we’ll tell him about this and ask for his opinion. When it comes to understanding people and the big picture, he’s more reliable than both of us combined.”

Raymond nodded in complete agreement. “Definitely.”
