Chapter 156

A video was played, and it showed Billie in her bedroom, touching up her makeup.

A girl, her age, sat on her bed and secretly set up her phone camera in a corner where they could both be seen easily.

“So, I’m kind of confused.” The girl asked. “I remember a time you told me you and those bullies tried to force Ryn to shift and that’s why she attacked you. But now you’re saying she hurt you for a different reason?”

Billie sighed, her shoulders sagging as she turned around in her seat. “Look, the first story is true, okay? I was so crazy about Frank back then that I literally agreed for him and his friends to torture Ryn with cattle prods so she could shift. Things went terrible and when Ryn lashed out, my face was in the way

“So it was an accident?”

“Yes. Ryn had no idea what she was doing.” Billie’s voice went low, then she looked at her door, and leaned forward to the girl. “You can’t tell anyone else okay? My father wants me to sell this new story to the public, and that’s what I’m going to do.”

Billie turned back to the vanity and the girl’s eyes strayed to the recording camera.

“Why though? I thought Ryn was your best friend?”

Billie sighed forcefully – a sign that she was probably getting offended with the questions. She turned around again, capping her lipstick. “I would have felt bad but there’s something you don’t know.”

“What’s that?”

Billie glanced at the door again, before leaning forward. “Ryn’s parents are like super wealthy, okay? But they are like the quiet wealthy kind who are nerds and are devoted to their work rather than flashing their wealth. They left a huge inheritance for her and put it in my dad’s care for when she turns legal.”

“Wow.”

“Yeah, but my Dad doesn’t plan on giving her shit, and he promised that if I pulled this off, he would get me that car I have always wanted.”

The girl frowned. “Isn’t that like wrong? People are going to hate Ryn for no reason.”

“Well, who cares?!” Billie answered angrily. “She scarred me for life. Somehow, I need compensation for that. Besides, whose side are you on? I thought you were my best friend?”

The girl planted a smile. “Of course I am. Can’t wait to ride in your new car with you.”

Billie smiled, and then the video ended.

For a moment, all that could be heard on TV was Billie’s panting breaths, her face etched in fear and shock. Then she slowly got up, looked around before running off camera.

Immediately, the focus was put back on Katie. “I guess with this video, all rumors about Miss Kathryn Ashmore will be laid to rest as we now know she was never the villain but the victim.”

The session came to an end and all I could feel was rage.

I remembered a Ryn that was so underweight and who slept in the Academy’s boiler room because she had nothing. Meanwhile, her parents had more than enough and Alpha Jack had the nerve to banish her and sit on everything?!

Chapter 156

When I turned to look at my brother who had been quietly sitting in our hotel suite with me, I found him already up with his phone to his ear.

“Yes, Rally the guys. We’re paying a visit to Alpha Jack.”

When he ended the call, he slipped his hands into his pockets smoothly, his eyes held no emotions and the shine it usually had was not there and that’s bad.

That’s terribly bad.

“What’s the plan?” I asked, folding my arms across my chest.

He stared blankly into space. “We pay a visit to Alpha Jack and collect Ryn’s inheritance for her.”

“If he resists?”

Theon looked at me. “Why would he resist?” He frowned, as if my question was ridiculous.

“I’m asking in case he does.”

Still, who are Ryn’s parents and why don’t I remember them from all the parties my father threw? 

“Your majesty.” Theon said, and I froze. 

“Beautiful.” The King said. “I want you to rally as many elite men as you can and stand ground at Alpha Jack’s place. He must be protected at all costs.”

“I don’t fancy being forced against my will, father. You tried that shit with Chelsea and I will never forgive you for that. Now you’re doing it again. When are you going to learn?” 

The King sighed, and then his voice softened. “Theon you have to protect Alpha Jack. It’s really important.”

“Give me a good reason why?”

Silence.

“I can’t right now but I promise as soon as I get back, I’ll show you something. Just keep him protected until I get there.”

Theon went silent. “Fine, but I want something in return.”

“Remove the ban you put on Ryn and you have a deal.”
