Gael sat still and behaved himself while Rosalie applied the medicine on his face.

The cream melted as soon as it touched his skin. It carried a light, herbal scent.

Suddenly, it felt like thousands of ants were crawling across his face.

“Ouch!” Gael cried out in pain and reached up to scratch, but Rosalie quickly pressed his hand down.

“Hold on,” she said calmly. “It’s repairing the wound.”

Gael had always thought he could endure pain. But this mix of itching and burning was almost unbearable.

He kept trying to scratch it, but Rosalie had to hold his hands down again and again.

Soon, his strength grew so strong that Rosalie could barely restrain him. If he touched his face now, everything would be ruined.

Without thinking, Rosalie leaned forward and wrapped her arms around him.

Gael froze for a moment, then slowly hugged her back.

Pain made his back tremble, but he didn’t let go.

He held her tightly until his body finally relaxed. Rosalie knew that the repair was complete.

Under the moonlight, she could see that the scars on Gael’s face had faded a lot.

The shallow ones were completely gone. Only the deeper spots near his chin and temple still showed a few tiny marks.

If you didn’t look closely, you wouldn’t notice anything at all.

Rosalie kept studying his face. Feeling awkward, Gael turned his head away.

He thought he looked ugly. Gael used to be bright and lively, but now he always kept his head down and avoided people.

Seeing this made Rosalie’s heart ache.

She took Gael’s hand and gently placed it on his face.

Gael flinched the moment his fingers touched his skin.

There were no deep grooves. The long scar that once ran across his face had vanished.

He traced the place again and again, following his memory.

Nothing. There was nothing there. “H-how is this possible?”

His dull eyes suddenly lit up.

His hands trembled, and so did his voice.

“Matriarch… my face.”

Gael buried his face into Rosalie’s shoulder. The grown man broke down and cried.

He had thought he would live with that face forever.

This was particularly true given that Rosalie had seven husbands, all of whom were outstanding and handsome.

No wonder he had felt inferior.

Rosalie gently patted his back to comfort him. She felt a little regretful; the bottle was half full. If there had been more, she could have erased all the scars.

After crying for a while, Gael finally calmed down. His eyes were red, but that bright green glow had returned.

Though his body was still covered in scars, they were hidden beneath clothing. No one could see them.

Gael was himself again, confident and full of life.

“Matriarch,” he acted cute, sounding wronged, “stay here tonight.”

Rosalie smiled and ruffled his hair. “Alright.”

They lay down together. Gael rested his head against her chest and wrapped his arms tightly around her, as if afraid she might disappear.

Rosalie was still weak. Gael wasn’t someone driven by desire. They simply held each other and fell asleep.

The next morning, the door was pushed open.

Julien walked in with a bowl of medicine. Today, he was determined to watch Gael drink it.

He knew very well that Gael had been secretly dumping the medicine and using an empty bowl to fool him.

“Time to get up!” Julien called.

To his surprise, Rosalie sat up first, rubbing her eyes.

Julien was shocked. She slept here last night?

That brat didn’t do anything stupid, right?
