She had no time to grieve. In the end, she bucked up, wiped her tears, and threw herself into the war effort.

She had gotten herself another purple–level guardian.

Theresa couldn’t help but regard Lily with deep satisfaction.

Just then, the phone on Lily’s desk rang.

Lily was still vibrating with joy over her new promotion when she hit the speaker button.

A flurry of panicked voices came through as they cried out, “Lily, this is the Blazing Sun Alliance Hospital! Ms. Hall just dropped off a man, which isn’t the point. Anyway, he just woke up, and he’s refusing to cooperate with treatment! He keeps yelling your name! He says that he’ll kill himself if you refuse to come!”

Both Lily and Theresa heard everything.

She heard the crash of things breaking as soon as she neared Harrance’s ward.
