Valka's expression darkened. "Dr. Wayne, you may be skilled in surgery, but that does not give you the right to disparage traditional medicine. It has been refined over thousands of years—its principles are profound and not something you can casually dismiss," he retorted.
"If that's the case, why haven't you cured the patient?" Killian asked.
"That is due to my own limitations, not the inadequacy of traditional medicine."
"By the standards of traditional medicine, you're considered a master. If even you can't do it, then others trained in the same tradition certainly can't," Killian retorted.
"You—" Valka was left speechless.
"And you can guarantee a cure?" Stefan suddenly spoke up.
"I can't promise a full recovery, but I can at least save her life," Killian replied confidently, turning to Nicolas. "Mr. Myers, I'm returning to Mound City tonight. If we're proceeding with surgery, it must be done quickly. Any further delay and I won't be able to help."
Nicolas hesitated. At this point, it seemed like the only path forward.
With a resigned sigh, he finally said, "Then let's proceed—"
"I'll say this now: if she undergoes surgery, she will die. This isn't treatment—it's murder." Stefan's voice cut through the room, clear and firm, like thunder.
Everyone turned toward him, stunned.
Bruce flushed with anger. "How dare you! Who do you think you are, cursing Mr. Myers' daughter? You must have a death wish!"
Nicolas shot Stefan an irritated look. If not for Nina's presence, he would have lost his temper already.
"Stefan, is Rebecca's condition really that serious?" Nina asked, her face pale. She trusted Stefan completely.
Valka watched Stefan intently, remembering the night he had saved Sara.
Perhaps this young man really does have a way.
"Mr. Myers, Stefan doesn't speak lightly. If he says the surgery is dangerous, then it likely is. Please, let him examine Rebecca," Nina urged.
"That won't be necessary." Nicolas waved a hand dismissively. "If even Dr. Hale can't cure her, how could this young man possibly succeed? We'll proceed as planned."
"Nina, it seems there's nothing more I can do here. I'll take my leave." Stefan's tone was calm.
