He remembered a park a few hundred feet east of the Stewart Mansion. Quiet. Secluded. Perfect.
He made his way there quickly, avoiding the few people still out at this hour, and found an empty clearing near the back. Isolated. Private. He sat down cross-legged and began to cultivate.
"The Indestructible Martial Scripture."
The words were barely a whisper as he activated the technique, beginning to refine the Mystic Cold Pulse Energy that had accumulated in his body.
As the Scripture took effect, spiritual energy from the surroundings flowed into him—absorbed by the nine awakened meridians, refined into true energy, and channeled through his body.
Gradually, the cold energy dissolved, mixed with his Solar Energy, and calmed it slightly. The burning in his organs eased.
But it was temporary. A bandage on a wound that needed surgery.
According to Mayson, once he awakened his True Dragon Meridian, the Solar Energy inside him would erupt completely. The only way to balance it is through union with a woman of special constitution. Once stabilized, the Solar Energy would turn into precious true power in his body.
The ideal matches for a Solar Apex Vitals Body? Nether Shade Body, Phoenix Holy Body—those are the ones.
A thought crossed his mind, and his lips curved slightly. Guess I need to speed things up with Nina. I mean, she practically gave me the green light. Can't go back on her word now, right?
Compared to being slowly tortured by the Solar energy building inside him—or worse, literally exploding—he was willing to bend a few moral rules.
She'd said those things on WhatsApp, hadn't she? Encouraged him, practically. He wasn't crossing any lines if she'd already drawn the map.
As for Sara—Nether Shade Body as well—that was complicated. His cold, distant fiancée. The ice queen. The one who'd made him sign that ridiculous agreement.
Not happening anytime soon. And that was fine. Some things were worth the wait.
He completed three cycles of cultivation. Felt his true energy grow purer, denser.
Stefan was about to run through the Dragon Transformation Fist—one of the most powerful techniques in the Indestructible Martial Scripture. Nine levels. Each one was a complete evolution.
Then his eyes narrowed. Every nerve in his body screamed a warning.
Sharp projectiles tore through the air, aimed straight for his vital points.
"We've never met. No history between us." Stefan's voice was flat. "Yet you tried to kill me. Why?"
Robert laughed. It wasn't a warm sound.
"No history? You ruined months of my work and claim no history?" His eyes hardened. "You're the one who removed the Cold-Toxic Energy from Sara Stewart, aren't you?"
"Ah." Stefan's voice stayed even. "So you're the one behind the Solar Flare Powder. Clever—using it with the Profound Cold Earth Vein to create Cold-Toxic Energy. Neat trick."
"Clever indeed." Robert's killing intent spiked. "And now that you know about the vein?" His voice dropped. "You're even more of a threat."
Killing intent exploded off him as he lunged at Stefan, his right hand shooting up.
More darts. Faster this time. Streaking toward Stefan's heart, his throat, his eyes.
Blood Poison Darts. The name said it all. One scratch, and the poison entered the bloodstream. After that? No cure. No saving.
