The Unwanted Wife's Return (Ex-Husband Wants Me Back) novel Chapter 125

From Broken to Beloved

HANNAH’S POV:

“Hannah,” he began, his voice low and slightly unsteady with emotion. “You have given me a second chance at life. At love. At being the father I should have always been from the start. You’ve forgiven things I never thought anyone could forgive, things I’m not sure I would have forgiven if our positions were reversed. And still, somehow, you choose me. Every single day, you choose me.”

Tears immediately blurred my vision. I could feel them spilling down my cheeks, but I couldn’t look away from him.

“I loved you before I even understood what love really meant,” he continued, and his voice cracked slightly. “And losing you, losing us, losing the chance to be with you and our children, it showed me that nothing in this world matters if I don’t have you in it. Nothing. Not money, not success, not anything. You are everything that matters, Hannah. You and our babies.”

My knees felt weak. The wind lifted the hem of my dress gently, and I felt like I was in a dream. Like this couldn’t possibly be real.

He reached into his pocket with slightly trembling fingers and pulled out a small velvet box. When he opened it, I actually gasped.

Inside sat the most beautiful ring I’d ever seen. A delicate rose-gold band holding a perfect pear-shaped diamond that caught the candlelight and sparkled like captured starlight. It was elegant and timeless and exactly my style, like he’d reached into my mind and pulled out my dream ring.

“Marry me, Hannah,” he whispered, his voice rough with emotion. “Not because we have history together. Not because of the twins, as much as I love them. But because you’re the woman I choose. Today, tomorrow, and for every single day for the rest of my life. You’re the one I want to wake up next to every morning. The one I want to come home to every night. The one I want to grow old with.”

The tears were streaming down my face now, hot and unstoppable. I was trying to speak, but my throat was too tight with emotion.

“I want to be the man you deserve,” he continued. “I want to spend every day making you as happy as you make me. I want to build a life with you, a real life, full of love and laughter and everything beautiful. So please, Hannah. Please say you’ll marry me.”

“Elijah,” I finally choked out, my voice breaking. My hands were trembling as I covered my mouth, trying to compose myself enough to speak. “Yes. Yes, of course I’ll marry you. Yes, yes, yes!”

The relief that washed over his face was instant and raw and so beautiful it made my heart feel like it might actually burst. His eyes got slightly misty, and he let out a breath he seemed to have been holding.
