The Unwanted Wife's Return (Ex-Husband Wants Me Back) novel Chapter 252

HANNAH’S POV:

Lucas handled the press. He was excellent at it. He had the type of social ease that made journalists feel like they were being given something exclusive even when he was saying the same thing to all of them, and by four o’clock the social media coverage from the press preview arrivals was already building in a way that Maya was monitoring from her clipboard position near the entrance and updating us on every twenty minutes.

“Four point two thousand posts with the hashtag in the last hour,” she said, appearing at my elbow at half past four.

“That is a lot,” I said.

“Yes, that is a lot,” she agreed. “Also Paige is here. She arrived twenty minutes early and is in the front row and she has already cried once looking at the venue and the show has not started.”

I put down the glass of water I was holding. “She cried already?”

“One of the lights caught the draped piece on the rail when they were carrying it through and she saw it and her hand went over her mouth,” Maya said. “Although it was a brief cry which she recovered quickly. She is fine. I gave her tissues from my pocket and she thanked me very genuinely.”

“You had tissues in your pocket.”

“I had four separate things Elijah asked me to have in my pocket in case you needed them,” Maya said pleasantly. Tissues was one of them. He also gave me a small packet of the specific biscuits you like from the bakery around the corner from the warehouse.”

I stared at her.

“He said you always forget to eat properly on show days and that the biscuits had a ninety percent success rate,” she added.

I pressed my lips together because I was not going to smile about that right now, there was no time, but I was making a note of it for later when there was time.

“Tell him thank you,” I said.

“Already did,” she said. “He also asked me to tell you that his mother called him three times this morning to check on you and is spending the day actively resisting the urge to come to the venue because she does not want to overwhelm you and he is genuinely proud of her restraint.”

I laughed, very genuinely. Just for a second. “She is welcome here,” I said.
