Seven Years, One Look 

HANNAH’S POV: 

That same day: 

The tension in the room was so thick, even a scissor wouldn’t cut it. Elijah sat across from me and didn’t take his eyes off of me even for one second. It was like he was reading me, making sure it wasn’t a ghost sitting across from him. I stared right back, because I thought when I saw him again I would be angry but I just stared at him and felt nothing. 

Lucas began introducing everyone to each other ranging from the young men on the board to the older bald ones. 

“And we have here, our CEO of Prestige, Hannah Jones, our creative director and the designer of all the beautiful dresses.” He introduced me with pride and I couldn’t help but smile at him and flip my hair in a not so dramatic style. All while I could feel his eyes on me but I refused to even glance at him. 

Lord knows I couldn’t wait to be alone with Lucas and get to the bottom of this. I thought to myself. 

Just as the meeting began and about five minutes in, with the lawyer of their investment company speaking on the terms of the contract, I heard him clear his throat and announce without caring about any other person, “Can everyone leave the room?” 

“Sorry?” One of the board members, Philips, asked frowning. 

“LEAVE. THE. ROOM.” He deadpanned and everyone slowly rose up to their feets confused and I did the same. 

Just as I was about to walk out, I felt his hand on my wrist and he slammed the glass door shut and dragged the curtain down. 

“What are you doing?” I inquired angrily as he locked the door with the key and placed it in his pocket. 

He stared at me from head to toe with glassy eyes and with amazement. And he turned around smiling and running his hands through his face and his hair and looked back at me and embraced me.
