The Unwanted Wife's Return (Ex-Husband Wants Me Back) novel Chapter 80

The Truth Took Sides

HANNAH’S POV:

I nodded slowly and found myself saying even though I didn’t seem to care about Elijah. “Flora, you can’t keep something like that from him. He deserves to know.”

She smiled sadly. “Maybe. But for now, I want to keep it between us. Please.”

There was something so fragile about her then, I couldn’t bring myself to argue. Her eyes, once sharp and judgmental, now carried a weight of regret.

“Of course,” I said quietly. “Whatever you decide.”

“Thank you.” She exhaled shakily, her shoulders relaxing a little. “You’re a remarkable woman, Hannah. Elijah was lucky then, and he’s lucky now.”

The compliment hit deeper than I expected. I was about to respond when I saw her expression change, her eyes darting toward the restaurant entrance.

I turned and froze in my spot when I saw who it was, Janet.

She was storming toward us like a hurricane in heels, her hair disheveled, her eyes wild. Heads turned as she slammed her bag onto the table, nearly toppling Flora’s tea.

She looked like she had looked in the video with Elijah at the mall. But she looked more horrible.

“So this is where you’ve been hiding!” she shouted directed at me. “Having a cozy little lunch while pretending you didn’t ruin my life?”

Mrs Martinez face was drained of color. “Janet-”

“No! Don’t you dare.” Janet pointed at her, voice trembling with fury. “You told me you’d help me get him back! You promised you’d talk to Elijah for me, you said Hannah was just a phase, that you’d fix things!”

The entire restaurant went silent and people’s eyes were glued towards us. This looked like a scene from a movie and I hated it. I would hate for millions of people to see us like this online.

Flora looked like she might faint. “Janet, please lower your voice.”

But Janet wasn’t listening. She turned on me, eyes blazing. “And you!”

I didn’t move.

“You destroyed everything!” she hissed. “My relationship I was about to be a fiancée, a wife after giving seven years of my wife to him! You ruined my reputation, my life! You took everything from me, Hannah!”

I swallowed, my pulse steady even as heat rose in my chest. “Janet, this isn’t the place-”

“Oh, please!” she spat. “You think you’re so innocent? You came back, acting like some saint, while the rest of us were still paying for your mistakes!”
