Old Gabriel was the only person Silas had left. Vera left him years ago, almost emptying, his account and running away

I didn’t blame the woman. If I were her, I would have left years before that.

I got into my car, my hands tight on the steering wheel.

How dare he say that to me? That he was regretting all he did? What did he hope for? Forgivenew?

Because of how bad he was, none of his children were on his side even when he was dying Axel and Kade hæven’t seen him once since he fell sick. They didn’t even bother to call.

Not that I blamed them.

I would abandon him too if I could, but I was in the same city as him, so there was no way I could abandon him.

And damn this sense of responsibility that has been built in me, because I feel like it was my responsibility to stay by his side until he drew his last breath.

I started my car, driving away from the mansion. It was almost midnight so I couldn’t go back to the office.

I would have to go home then.

I avoided going to that house as much as possible because it felt so… empty without them.

On the way home, my thoughts spun and wandered,

I was dragged out of my thoughts when an animal suddenly ran out of the woods and ran straight into my car.

My car hit the animal and it flew back, landing on the ground with a wet thud.

“Fucking hell!”

I rushed out of my car, running towards the injured animal but my steps faltered when I saw it shift.

Fuck, I just hit a werewolf.

But she should be alright. She could recover from that, so why the hell wasn’t she recovering!!

I cursed harshly as I rushed to her, kneeling in front of her. Her hair was soaked in blood and it covered her face. And her body.. God, her body….
