Chapter 194

KROW

HOURS AGO

I mood will, hovering over him, and watched as he drew in breaths

In and on

In and out.

Heavy and slow,

Silas was dying

It’s been years,

Years since my brothers left and I was alone in that mansion. Years since the mansion felt too big

I was pushing towards forty, Kade and Belladonna’s child was now going to school. Rovette and Alex got married, had twins. and the kids just started walking,

I’ve become CEO of the company even though Silas was still alive. As soon as he fell sick, he stepped down and I took over.

It’s been years and a lot of things have changed, and yet

And yet

I turned away from Silas, about to leave when he called out.

Stay

I turned to him, an eyebrow raised, my irritation evident on my face. Why pretend you were sleeping? I’m a busy man, Silas

He blinked slowly, his heavy breathing, filling my ears and I wanted to plug them shut.

Five minutes,he said,

I sighed, moving to the chair beside the bed and dropping into it. I’m listening

I never thought I would die this younghe began, and I wanted to scoff. He sure as hell wasn’t young I thought I would live a really long life, but here we are. And now I’m having so many regrets.

You’re regretting not acting like a proper father and husband?I bite out, unable to help myself, bitterness filling my voic

Silas turned his head very slowly to me, blinking like that took strength Yes

I stood up suddenly. Your five minutes are up. I don’t want to listen to this bullshit anymore.

I left the room. his voice following me. Take care of your brothers, Kross

un not

When have I never! I’ve been taking care of them for as long as I could remeinber, and I wasn’t planning an stopping even though they had their families now

Chapter 194

If they let me, I’ll take care of them until the day I drop dead.

Don’t ever call me again if it’s not an emergency,I said to Gabriel as I walked past him without looking at harr

Old Gabriel was the only person Silas had left. Vera left him years ago, almost emptying, his account and running away

I didn’t blame the woman. If I were her, I would have left years before that.

I got into my car, my hands tight on the steering wheel.

How dare he say that to me? That he was regretting all he did? What did he hope for? Forgivenew?

Because of how bad he was, none of his children were on his side even when he was dying Axel and Kade hæven’t seen him once since he fell sick. They didn’t even bother to call.

Not that I blamed them.

I would abandon him too if I could, but I was in the same city as him, so there was no way I could abandon him.

And damn this sense of responsibility that has been built in me, because I feel like it was my responsibility to stay by his side until he drew his last breath.

It was like a reflex in me.

It was a damn curse.

I started my car, driving away from the mansion. It was almost midnight so I couldn’t go back to the office.

I would have to go home then.

I avoided going to that house as much as possible because it felt soempty without them.

On the way home, my thoughts spun and wandered,

I was dragged out of my thoughts when an animal suddenly ran out of the woods and ran straight into my car.

Shit!I cursed, slamming the brakes but it was too late.

My car hit the animal and it flew back, landing on the ground with a wet thud.

Fucking hell!

I rushed out of my car, running towards the injured animal but my steps faltered when I saw it shift.

Fuck, I just hit a werewolf.

But she should be alright. She could recover from that, so why the hell wasn’t she recovering!!

I cursed harshly as I rushed to her, kneeling in front of her. Her hair was soaked in blood and it covered her face. And her body.. God, her body….

She wasn’t healing. She wasn’t healing!

Why aren’t you healing?!I yelled as I took off my jacket and covered her, carefully picked her up and she whined, Shh

Shh. You’ll be fine.

Chapter 194

I took my phone out from my pocket as I carried her to my car, calling the hospital where our kind get treated.

Hang in there,” I muttered as I placed her in the back seat.

I entered the car, driving fast but carefully not to bump into anything, my heart racing.

She’s stable, the doctor informed me when he stepped out.
