The Villainess Needs a Hug (Ivy Windsor) novel Chapter 974

Almost instantly, the ultrasound technician spoke, her voice ringing with pleasant surprise. "There's a heartbeat. Everything looks great."

Those few simple words sent Ivy's spirits soaring straight into the stratosphere.

Yet, she didn't gasp or cheer. She lacked the frantic excitement she'd had a week ago when she first discovered the unexpected pregnancy.

Jamison was equally composed, but as he pulled his gaze away from the screen to look at his wife, profound joy danced in the depths of his dark eyes.

His happiness didn't stem from the prospect of becoming a father again; he was happy simply because she was happy.

Looking back at him, a radiant smile bloomed on Ivy's face. More than anything, it was the feeling of absolute, bone-deep relief after being stretched to her absolute limit.

Assuming she hadn't heard the technician, Jamison gave her hand a gentle squeeze. "The doctor said the baby looks great."

"Yeah, I know," she nodded. "I'm just so happy I can't find the words."

Having fully accepted this uninvited little life, Jamison felt no lingering resistance. He fell into an easy, professional conversation with the technician about the embryo's development.

Based on her last cycle, the growth was technically delayed, but the current metrics showed a perfectly healthy progression.

The blood work confirmed it: her HCG levels were right on track, and her progesterone had surged to a safe level.

Reading the report, Dr. Beckett beamed. "See? It's a miracle. We didn't even force any medical intervention, and the baby caught right up. The little one has incredible vitality. Everything is developing beautifully."

Ivy nodded enthusiastically.

Dr. Beckett looked between the two of them, confirming one last time. "So, we are definitely keeping this baby, correct?"

Before Ivy could speak, Jamison nodded firmly. "Yes."

Ivy turned to look at him, the smile in her eyes growing even brighter.

Knowing Ivy's medical history, Dr. Beckett strictly advised them to be hyper-vigilant throughout the pregnancy. She stressed the importance of attending every single checkup and ordered Ivy to come to the hospital immediately if she felt even the slightest bit off.

It wasn't until they walked out of the hospital doors that Ivy let her emotions loose, her joy bubbling over.

Seeing her so overwhelmingly happy made the tight knot in Jamison's chest unravel.

That morning, he had been a wreck, terrified the scan would show no heartbeat and that she would need a D&C. He couldn't bear to imagine the depths of her heartbreak, or how long it would take her to crawl out of that darkness.

Thankfully, the storm had passed, and everything was perfectly fine.

...

News of Ivy's pregnancy spread like wildfire. Every friend and family member reacted with shock, quickly followed by ecstatic congratulations.

Even Floyd and Denis, upon learning their mother was carrying a new baby, suddenly transformed into absolute angels, swearing up and down they would never make her angry again.

They went a step further, taking turns pressing their faces against her stomach every day to talk to the baby.

Floyd: "Little sister, I'm your oldest brother. Once you're out, I've got your back. I promise nobody will ever dare mess with you."

Denis: "Who said it's a sister? I think it's a brother. You already have a younger brother, so it's only fair I get one too."

"Are you out of your mind? Wouldn't it be better if we both got a sister?"

"I already have Roberta. I want a brother." Denis tugged at his mother's arm. "Mom, you have to give me a baby brother."

Ivy eyed him suspiciously. "What are you so happy about? Did you pull off another miracle surgery today?"

"I save lives every single day. That's just a Tuesday for me," Jamison replied smoothly.

"Then why are you grinning like that?" she pressed.

"Take a wild guess."

Ivy rolled her eyes and looked away. "I'm not guessing. Keep your secrets."

"..." Jamison shook his head, unable to hold back the good news any longer. "Your wish came true. Doesn't that warrant a little celebration?"

"My wish came true?" Ivy frowned in thought before it clicked. They had just been at the obstetrics department that afternoon for the anatomy scan. "Wait... you mean it's a girl?"

She pointed excitedly at her swollen belly, her eyes sparkling like diamonds.

Jamison nodded. "Yes."

"You went and asked the tech anyway?!" Before the appointment, Jamison had suggested checking, but Ivy had shut it down.

She had wanted the grand reveal.

But he had found out anyway!

"I didn't ask the tech," Jamison defended himself. "I ran into Dr. Beckett this afternoon, and she told me."

"Oh my God! This is amazing!" Ivy squealed with pure delight. "The universe is finally cutting me a break. I got exactly what I wanted. I am the luckiest woman alive."
