**Steps Along Forgotten Roads**
**By Sophia Reed**
**Chapter 230: Caught**

**Gavin’s POV**

As I stepped through the grand entrance of the villa, the familiar voice of Beta Taylor greeted me. “I picked up the pink gems you requested,” he announced, extending a long, sleek black case toward me. Without a moment’s hesitation, I accepted it, my fingers brushing against the cool surface. With a swift motion, I opened the case, revealing a stunning array of pink gems, glimmering like delicate blossoms in the soft light. A wave of satisfaction washed over me; this would be the perfect touch for the mirror in Irene’s new car. She was going to absolutely adore this gift.

Casting a glance at the ornate clock on the wall, I noted the time creeping toward late evening. I was home earlier than usual, a fact that didn’t escape Adam’s notice. Though he was keenly aware of my presence, he wouldn’t dare inquire about it, not after I had made it abundantly clear that he was to maintain silence in my company until I deemed otherwise.

Irene was likely out with Ethan at this hour, and Matt was probably wrapping up his tutoring session.

“Is there anything else you need before I head home?” Taylor asked, glancing at his wristwatch, the urgency in his demeanor evident.

“No, just have a good night,” I replied to my long-time friend and Beta, my tone casual yet firm.

A grin spread across Taylor’s face as he turned toward the door. “Yeah, you too,” he said, his tone tinged with a hint of mischief. I rolled my eyes, watching him leave the villa, the door clicking shut behind him.

Shaking my head, I pivoted toward the staircase, taking the steps two at a time. There was no point in lingering for Irene; if she was with Ethan, it was likely she wouldn’t be returning tonight. She had been spending most of her evenings at his place, and I often pretended not to notice when he stayed over here.

Approaching her room, I grasped the doorknob, planning to place this thoughtful gift on her pillow for her to discover upon her return. She had expressed a desire for something special for her new vehicle, and I was confident that I had found the perfect addition. Anticipation bubbled within me as I imagined her reaction, but for now, patience was required.

I pushed the door open, and a wave of fragrant lavender and vanilla enveloped me, causing my senses to awaken. My heart raced as my gaze fell upon a startled Judy, her wide eyes reflecting shock. Instinctively, my eyes lowered, and I was met with a striking sight—two bodacious curves that made my wolf stir with an unmistakable need.

Her gasp and shriek barely registered in my mind as I remained momentarily transfixed, but when she hastily grabbed a shirt to cover herself, I blinked back to reality and lifted my gaze to meet her eyes.

“What the hell are you doing in my daughter’s room?” I demanded, my voice harsher than I intended.

Judy was not supposed to be on the second floor, where our personal quarters resided. This was a rule we had established when she began her role as Matt’s tutor.

“Do you always barge into your daughters’ room without knocking?” she shot back, her voice steady, a hint of defiance lacing her words.

My eyes darkened as I glared at her, but before I could respond, Irene peeked around me, her brow furrowing in confusion.

“Dad?” she questioned, her tone laced with curiosity. “Why are you home so early?”

I narrowed my eyes at her, irritation bubbling beneath the surface.

“Why are you home at all?” I asked pointedly. “I thought you were supposed to be out with Ethan.”

She shrugged, a nonchalant gesture that only fueled my frustration.

“He had a meeting today, and I had some time to kill. So, I hung out with Judy.”

“You… hung out… with Judy?” I repeated slowly, each word carefully articulated to ensure I understood her correctly.

A smile brightened her face as she nodded.

“Matt likes her, and I have to admit I was curious about her,” she explained. “So, yes. We were hanging out.”

“This is all well and good, but do you think I could get some privacy here?” Judy interjected, turning her back to us, effectively concealing her incredibly full breasts.

“Oh, Goddess!” Irene gasped, finally processing that Judy was entirely shirtless and braless.

Why on earth was she braless?

“Dad, were you spying on Judy while she was getting dressed?” Irene accused, swatting at my arm, only to yelp in pain as her hand connected with solid muscle. “Ouch!”

“I wasn’t spying on her,” I gritted through clenched teeth, frustration mounting.

Judy quickly pulled on her shirt and turned to face us. The garment had a deep V cut that left little to the imagination, and it was short enough to rest just above her belly button. The matching skirt hugged her hips, accentuating her curves. I recognized the outfit as one of Irene’s; she had worn it on several occasions.

Irene was the same age as Judy, so her clothes were youthful and vibrant. This only served to make Judy appear even younger as she donned them. My gaze involuntarily lingered on her slender, smooth legs, and I felt my fingers twitch with an urge to reach out and touch them.

“Then what exactly were you doing in my room?” Irene asked, raising an eyebrow, her curiosity piqued.

I lifted the black box for her to see.

“I was leaving this on your bed. I got it for your new car,” I explained, handing her the case.

With eager hands, she opened it, and when her eyes fell upon the pink gems, she gasped, her excitement palpable. A radiant smile spread across her glossy lips, illuminating her face.
