**Chapter 241: My Wife**
**Judy’s POV**
A sudden chill swept through the air as Gavin entered the room, his presence commanding and intense. “What exactly is going on in here?” he demanded, his eyes narrowing as they took in the scene. They landed on the principal’s hand, still gripping my wrist with an iron grip, the skin beneath it already beginning to redden from the pressure. I could see the fury ignite in Gavin’s gaze as he noticed the marks left by Principal Thorne.
“Alpha Landry,” Lucy piped up, her voice trembling slightly as she bowed her head in a show of respect. “It’s such an honor to finally meet you. I am a huge fan. I’m Lucy—”
“I didn’t ask,” Gavin interrupted, raising a hand to silence her. The abruptness of his command made her cheeks flush a deeper shade of pink, and her eyes widened in shock. His focus remained fixed on Principal Thorne, the tension in the room thickening. “Release her hand from her wrist.”
Without hesitation, Principal Thorne let go, and I instinctively pulled my hand close to my chest, rubbing my sore wrist in an attempt to soothe the pain. Gavin motioned with his head, and his Gammas quickly rushed to my side, guiding me gently away from the principal and toward him.
“Alpha Gavin, there seems to be a misunderstanding. I was merely protecting your reputation. This nobody half-wit is pretending to be our wife and the mother of your child,” Principal Thorne declared, his words igniting a fire of embarrassment that spread across my cheeks.
“Yeah, she’s a nobody! We were only standing up for your honor and reputation by teaching her a lesson,” Lucy chimed in, her voice dripping with disdain.
Gavin’s gaze flickered in my direction, and I felt the weight of his unspoken questions and judgments swirling in his mind. All I could do was lower my head in shame, the realization crashing over me like a wave. There was no escaping this; I was trapped, and now I would face the consequences. My job was likely on the line, and Matt would undoubtedly suffer for my foolishness… all because I had woven this ridiculous lie. What had possessed me to claim I was Gavin’s wife?
“Just because I am late to my son’s meeting does not give you the right to treat my wife with such disrespect,” Gavin spat, his voice laced with anger as he glared at Principal Thorne. My heart leapt in surprise at his words, my eyes widening in disbelief. Gavin looked furious, his expression fierce as he directed his ire toward both the principal and Lucy.
The color drained from their faces as they stared back at him, clearly taken aback.
“W… wife?” Principal Thorne stammered, confusion etched across his features. “I don’t understand.”
“What’s not to understand?” Gavin shot back, and to my utter astonishment, he wrapped an arm around my shoulders, pulling me close to his side. “Judy is my wife, and you treated her poorly.”
“But… but you are a bachelor!” Lucy gasped, her eyes bulging in disbelief. “How is it possible that you have a wife??”
“Those were all rumors,” Gavin replied sharply, shooting her a look that could freeze fire. “Judy is my wife and the mother of my child.”
Lucy appeared on the verge of tears, while Principal Thorne broke out in a cold sweat, both of them utterly speechless. It was almost comical if I weren’t still grappling with the shock myself.
Was Gavin genuinely stepping in to defend me?
But why?
When I looked up at him, his expression remained stern, his jaw clenched tightly. He was undeniably handsome, even in his fury. His arm around me felt both protective and possessive, and I had to fight the urge to lean into him, to breathe in the comforting scent that surrounded him.
“I am so deeply sorry, Mrs. Landry. Please, accept my sincerest apologies. My receptionist is new and was unsure of what she was talking about,” Principal Thorne stammered, his voice trembling with fear.
Lucy’s mouth dropped open, caught off guard by the sudden shift in the dynamics. She whirled around to face Gavin, her eyes narrowing in accusation.
“You were the one trying to have your way with her!” she hissed, her voice low but filled with venom.
I flinched at the implication of her words, memories of the principal’s intentions flooding back, making my stomach churn.
“We are here to discuss Matthew, are we not?” Gavin interjected, cutting through their argument with a firm tone.
Principal Thorne lowered his head, his gaze fixed on the floor as he nodded.
“Yes, sir. Please, come into my office,” he said, gesturing toward the door behind him.
“Lead the way,” Gavin instructed, keeping his arm firmly around me as he guided me toward the office door. Then he paused, turning his attention to Taylor. “Deal with her.”
He nodded toward Lucy, whose complexion paled even further at the command.
“Yes, sir,” Taylor replied with a smirk before turning to a visibly flustered Lucy.
