The War God Alpha's Arranged Bride (Evelyn and Alexander) novel Chapter 295

**Steps Along Forgotten Roads**
**By Sophia Reed**
**Chapter 295: Possessiveness**

**Judy’s POV**

This evening marked a significant milestone: it was the first time Gavin had chosen to stay the night with me. Having spent a few days together, I had grown accustomed to his routine of slipping away after I drifted off to sleep. Thus, waking up to find him still in my room, nestled in my bed with his shirt discarded, was a delightful surprise. However, I noticed he had his pants back on, which was a small comfort in the midst of my confusion.

My heart fluttered wildly at the sight before me. The warmth of his presence was both comforting and bewildering. I gently traced my fingers along his back, relishing the heat radiating from him, and a longing washed over me to curl up in his embrace and savor the moment for hours on end. Yet, reality loomed over us; with the film crew invading his pack, I knew he would soon be swept up in a whirlwind of activity.

As if sensing my gaze, he stirred, and when his eyes fluttered open, I held my breath, half-expecting him to leap from the bed in a panic. What if he regretted falling asleep here? But instead, a soft smile graced his lips, and my heart raced even faster, pounding against my ribcage like a drum.

“Good morning,” he greeted, rolling onto his back and revealing his sculpted abs. My mouth went dry, and I swallowed hard, trying to regain my composure.

“Good morning,” I managed to reply, my voice barely above a whisper. “I didn’t expect to find you here this morning.”

He stretched languidly before sitting up, running his fingers through his tousled hair. It should be illegal for someone to look that good so early in the day.

“I was exhausted,” he admitted, a hint of vulnerability in his tone. “Yesterday was quite a lot.”

“Did you meet Skyla?” I asked, biting my lower lip nervously. The thought of him spending the day with a glamorous supermodel actress made my stomach twist with unease. I knew I couldn’t voice my discomfort, so I focused on the floor, avoiding his gaze.

“Yeah,” he replied, a thoughtful look crossing his face. “She’s interesting. I have to supervise their filming today.”

I nodded, trying to mask my feelings.

“I’ll be tutoring Matt later, so if you want to meet up…” I suggested, my cheeks flushing with embarrassment.

He turned to face me fully, his eyes darkening with an intensity that sent shivers down my spine.

“I’ll keep that in mind,” he said, his voice low and sultry. “But I’ll be swamped today, so I can’t promise I’ll be able to stop by.”

I nodded, already anticipating that outcome.

He swung his legs over the side of the bed and reached for his pants strewn across the floor.

“I’m going to hop in the shower,” he informed me, making his way to the bathroom. I watched him disappear behind the door, exhaling a breath I hadn’t realized I was holding. Once the sound of the shower filled the air, I quickly threw on some clothes and made my way downstairs, hoping to distract myself.

In the kitchen, I found Harper engaged in a lively discussion with a couple of kitchen aides. Their conversation paused as they turned to acknowledge my presence.

“Good morning,” Harper greeted with a polite smile. “Are you hungry? Chester is about to whip up some breakfast.”

“I’m starving,” I admitted, my stomach growling in agreement. “Could he make extra? Gavin is here too.”

Harper raised an eyebrow, curiosity flickering in her gaze, but she chose to keep her questions to herself and simply nodded.

“Of course,” she replied.

Moments later, Chester entered the kitchen, ingredients in hand. Upon spotting me, his face broke into a wide grin.

“Do you like waffles?” he asked, setting the items on the counter.

“I love waffles,” I responded enthusiastically.

“Perfect,” he beamed. “Waffles for the lovely Judy, coming right up.”

I felt my cheeks flush at the compliment, and when he glanced at the kitchen aides who were practically swooning over him, he winked, causing their knees to buckle under the weight of his charm.

Harper rolled her eyes, crossing her arms over her chest and narrowing her gaze at the kitchen aides.

“Don’t you ladies have anything more productive to do?” she chided.

Chester chuckled, nudging Harper playfully. “Now, now, Harper, no need to be jealous. You know you’re still my favorite.”

“I’m not jealous,” she shot back, her tone a mix of annoyance and embarrassment. “But flirting while at work has always been frowned upon.”

“That’s not what you said the other night,” he teased, his voice dropping to a soft, teasing whisper, though everyone in the room could hear him clearly.

My eyes widened as I watched Harper’s face shift through various shades of pink and red. Had they been intimate? A wave of curiosity washed over me; something intriguing was unfolding right before my eyes, and I couldn’t help but want to know more.

“We weren’t working,” she retorted through clenched teeth. “I need to run to the store. I’ll be back.”

She spun on her heel and rushed out of the kitchen, clearly mortified. I turned to Chester, who was chuckling and shaking his head.

“She gets embarrassed so easily. I don’t understand why. It was just sex,” he remarked, still laughing. “It wasn’t that big of a deal.”

I crossed my arms, watching him expertly navigate the kitchen, cooking with a delicate finesse.

“Maybe it wasn’t a big deal to you,” I countered, “but did you ever consider that it might have meant something to her?”

He paused, glancing back at me over his shoulder.
