**Chapter 309: News Article**
Ethan found himself parked outside Judy’s school on a late Monday evening, anticipation thrumming through him like a live wire. He knew that class would be letting out any moment, and he had spent the weekend shadowing her every move, only to find her cooped up in the mansion for the last two days. Gavin, her ever-present companion, had vanished since Friday night, leaving Ethan with no choice but to sit in his car, his heart racing as he awaited Judy’s departure.
As the school bell rang, a wave of students poured out, but Ethan’s eyes were fixed solely on Judy. She slid into a car that he recognized all too well—the one that belonged to Gavin’s driver. A familiar knot of anxiety twisted in his stomach; she was likely en route to her tutoring session with Matt. Following them felt pointless, yet the urge was irresistible.
He trailed behind them, maintaining a careful distance, ensuring that he remained inconspicuous among the other vehicles. The route they took soon veered from the expected path toward the Villa, and Ethan’s instincts kicked in. As they approached the Silver Crescent pack territory, he sensed something was amiss. Ethan’s heart sank as they took a series of unexpected turns, leading them away from the familiar.
Moments later, they arrived at the mansion, and Ethan pulled over, his breath hitching as he watched Judy climb out of the car. But it was the figure waiting at the entrance that made his blood run cold—Gavin. The sight of him standing there, slightly awkward yet expectant, sent a jolt of jealousy through Ethan. He strained to catch the words exchanged between them, his wolf’s instincts urging him to listen. He rolled down his window, attempting to amplify his hearing, but his abilities fell short; he was not yet an Alpha.
As Judy approached Gavin, Ethan noticed a flush of color rising along her cheeks. The way she gazed up at him, her eyes sparkling, made Ethan’s heart clench painfully. They seemed far too close, far too comfortable, and the unsettling thought crept into his mind: Why was Judy here? Was she truly living with him?
He watched helplessly as a smile broke across Judy’s face, only for it to be followed by Gavin wrapping his arms around her, pulling her into an embrace that felt far too intimate. A low growl rumbled deep within Ethan, his wolf enraged at the sight of his mate in another man’s arms. In a fit of frustration, he reached for his phone, snapping pictures of the scene unfolding before him, each click of the camera a dagger to his heart.
Just then, Matthew’s voice broke through the moment, calling for Judy to join him inside the mansion. Gavin ran a hand through his hair, a look of resignation on his face as he watched Judy head inside. After exchanging a few words with the driver, he followed her and Matt into the mansion, leaving Ethan seething in rage.
Ethan’s mind raced as he pulled up Irene’s contact information, realizing he had to tread carefully. He couldn’t let her misinterpret his intentions; he couldn’t allow her to think he was stalking Judy. With a deep breath, he attached the damning photo and composed a message.
Ethan: I was looking for your father so I could speak pack business with him. I remember saying he was at his mansion in the north, so I came here to see him and saw this…
He pressed send, his heart pounding in his chest as he waited for Irene’s response.
Meanwhile, Irene was alone at the Villa, the film crew having ventured into the city for dinner after a grueling day of filming. Matt had left for a different tutoring session, leaving her to contemplate her father’s strange behavior. She knew he was at the northern mansion, supposedly dealing with rogue attacks, but she couldn’t shake the feeling that something was off.
When her phone chimed, it pulled her from her thoughts. A smile crept onto her face as she recognized Ethan’s name. He had been so attentive and caring over the past week; her heart quickened at the thought of his message.
But as she opened the text, her heart plummeted. The image of her father embracing Judy sent a wave of nausea through her. Ethan’s message claimed he had come to discuss pack business, only to stumble upon this shocking scene.
Irene’s mind raced. Could she trust Ethan’s explanation? The facts were undeniable—her father was with Judy at the mansion. There were no rogue attacks; he had lied to her. Anger surged through her as she gripped her phone tightly. Judy needed to be removed from the picture; she was clearly trying to worm her way back into Ethan’s life, and it seemed to be working.
Irene’s connections in the media flashed through her mind. If the truth about this relationship got out, it would surely scare Judy away—perhaps for good.
Determined, she searched for her friend’s contact, her heart racing as she pressed the call button.
“Please tell me you have something for me,” her friend responded, sounding utterly bored. “I’ve hit a dry spell, and I might lose my job if I don’t come up with a good enough story to keep everyone’s attention.”
“Oh, I might have just the story you need,” Irene replied, a smirk forming on her lips. She could feel the thrill of the impending drama. “Hold on, I’m sending you something.”
After sending the photo, she waited eagerly for his reaction.
“What is this?” he asked, surprise coloring his tone. “Is that your father?”
“Yes,” Irene confirmed, her voice steady. “That’s my father with his lover—my brother’s tutor. She’s my age, and it’s painfully obvious she’s after him to get closer to my fiancé. I want her exposed for the fraud she is. Find out everything you can about her and publish this story.”
“I don’t take orders from you,” her friend teased.
“Do you want the story or not?” Irene shot back, rolling her eyes.
“Oh, I want the story,” he chuckled. “Give me one day, and I’ll have this baby published everywhere.”
“I was hoping you would,” Irene said, a satisfied smile spreading across her face. “I’m counting on you.”
With that, she hung up, her heart racing as she envisioned the fallout that was about to unfold.
**Judy’s POV**
“So why are we having a tutoring session here?” Matt asked, glancing around the spacious living room after Gavin had excused himself to shower upstairs.
