**Chapter 321: Our Secret**
**Gavin’s POV**
“Alpha, he’s here,” Beta Taylor announced as he entered my home office, his expression a mix of urgency and concern. “Alpha Levi arrived in the pack this morning.”
A wave of frustration washed over me as I rubbed my temples, feeling the beginnings of a headache lurking just beneath the surface. The last thing I wanted to deal with was Alpha Levi. Yet, it appeared that fate had other plans. Levi had been tasked with the responsibility of trailing the Elite Gamma Force across the globe, scouting and recruiting students for the upcoming competition. This competition was no small affair; it took place once every decade, and with the mountain of responsibilities piling up on my desk, I knew I couldn’t afford to be absent for an extended period.
In my mind, Levi was undoubtedly the most suitable candidate for this role.
I held a deep respect for the Elite; they were the backbone of our pack’s strength. It was a shame I couldn’t participate myself, especially since I was the primary financier for their endeavors. My own gammas had been selected from the ranks of the Elite Force, a privilege I took great pride in.
“Make sure the guards are instructed not to grant him access to my villa,” I murmured, my voice low and steady. “The less interaction I have with him, the better for everyone involved.”
“I heard he’s already made his selection,” Beta Taylor responded, surprising me with this revelation. “He’s planning to leave either tonight or tomorrow.” I lifted my gaze, my brow furrowing in confusion.
“He’s made his choice?” I repeated, my curiosity piqued. “How many students did he take?”
“I believe just one,” he replied, though uncertainty laced his voice. “I can find out who it is if you’d like.”
I shook my head, dismissing the idea.
“No need,” I said softly. “I’ll be attending the competitions next week anyway, so I’ll find out for myself then.”
Beta Taylor nodded, his expression shifting to one of professionalism.
“I’ll ensure everything is in order for your flight,” he assured me. “Lycan Alpha Terrance has already sent over his permission for you to enter his territory.”
I acknowledged him with a nod, my mind already drifting to the tasks ahead.
Casting a glance at the clock, I realized it was almost time for Leroy to pick up Judy from school and bring her to the villa for her tutoring session with Matt. A pang of guilt struck me; I had canceled on her last night, and I was eager to make amends. Just then, Beta Taylor glanced at the time and his eyes widened in alarm.
“Oh, shit! I’m late!” he exclaimed, his voice rising in panic. “I need to pick up Judy.”
I narrowed my eyes at him, feeling a sense of irritation bubble to the surface.
“Why are you the one picking her up? Where’s Leroy?”
“He asked for the night off,” Taylor shrugged nonchalantly. “I told him I’d cover his shift and fetch her from school.”
My frustration mounted, my nostrils flaring as I fixed a steely glare on my Beta.
“Why wasn’t I informed of this sooner?” I demanded, my voice low and edged with irritation.
“Sorry, boss. I didn’t think it was a big deal,” he replied, his casual demeanor only adding to my annoyance. “As long as someone picks her up, it shouldn’t matter.”
He was fortunate he was also my friend; otherwise, I might have lost my temper.
“Get out of here and go get her,” I said, dismissing him with a wave of my hand. He was late, and that meant Judy would be left waiting alone. Anything could happen, especially with Alpha Levi lurking around our territory.
**Judy’s POV**
As I stood outside the gym, I stared down at the pack Alpha Levi had handed to me before I left. It was a neatly organized folder containing all the essential information I would need for the competition—hotel arrangements, transportation details, and even a plane ticket. This was really happening; I would soon be on that plane, embarking on the most significant competition of my life.
My heart raced in my chest, a mix of exhilaration and anxiety coursing through me. I was the only one chosen for recruitment, and the rest of my class had reacted with a mixture of envy and disbelief. It didn’t sit right with me, and I couldn’t shake the feeling of skepticism. More than anything, I wished I could share this news with Nan, but I had to wait until I could find out where she was and why she was ignoring my calls. For now, I was thrilled at the prospect of going to the villa to tell Gavin. I needed to inform him that I would be taking a few weeks off, as I wouldn’t be available to tutor Matt.
Standing outside the school grounds, I glanced at my watch, a frown creasing my forehead. Leroy was usually punctual, so his tardiness made me uneasy. What if something had happened?
Just then, a familiar car pulled up in front of me, and my entire body froze in place. I recognized it instantly, and I wasn’t in the mood to deal with him. I began to turn away, planning to head back towards the campus; Leroy could text me when he arrived. But just as I started to walk away, I heard the car door slam shut, followed by the sound of fast, heavy footsteps approaching from behind me.
“Stop running away from me!” Ethan shouted, grabbing my arm and spinning me around to face him. “What is wrong with you?”
I narrowed my eyes at him, my heart pounding in my chest.
“Don’t touch me,” I replied sharply, yanking my arm out of his grasp. “What are you doing here, Ethan?” I folded my arms defiantly across my chest, trying to project strength.
“I came to ask you if the news reports are true,” he said, his eyes alight with a mix of anger and hurt. “Are you and Gavin together?”
My eyes widened in shock, and I instinctively took a step back from him.
