The War God Alpha's Arranged Bride (Evelyn and Alexander) novel Chapter 347

**Chapter 347: Impressions That Echo**

**Gavin’s Perspective**

I found myself paralyzed, my eyes glued to the sight of Judy soaring through the air. No parachute, no safety net, nothing to break her fall… If she plummeted, it could spell disaster for her. But just when I thought all hope was lost, she transformed into her wolf form. I had never laid eyes on her wolf before; its emergence stirred something deep within me, an instinct I hadn’t felt in ages. My own wolf stirred restlessly, yearning for release, an unusual sensation since he hadn’t clamored for control in a long, long time.

I struggled to recall the last time he had ever done this.

Judy was smaller than the others, yet she exuded an undeniable competence. With every ounce of her strength and speed, she fought fiercely, ultimately emerging victorious. She defended herself with skill, delivering several solid blows to her opponents. Her technique was impressive, utilizing the element of surprise to her advantage. She could see them, but they remained oblivious to her presence until she chose to reveal herself.

Still, the gnawing thought of what could have happened to her left my heart aching by the fight’s conclusion.

“Who is that girl who just flew through the air?” Mica, one of the Lycans, inquired from his seat, curiosity lacing his tone.

There were four Lycan chairmen in total, and I was the strongest among them. While there were many of Lycan blood scattered across the globe, only the chairmen graced these events with their presence. The Lycans acted as the judges of these competitions, supported by a select few appointed judges who aided in the final decision-making process.

“I believe her name is Judy Montague,” Jeremy, another Lycan, remarked, his gaze fixed intently on Judy’s wolf. “She’s quite talented. Her professors sing her praises, and even Levi expressed his admiration for her skill set.”

Mica nodded thoughtfully, absorbing the information.

“We’ll need to keep her on our radar,” he mused. “What’s your take, Gavin?”

“It would be foolish not to advance her to the next round,” I replied without a moment’s hesitation.

“Really?” Mica raised an eyebrow. “Do you believe she can survive it?”

“Absolutely. If I were to wager on anyone’s survival, it would be Judy,” Jeremy chuckled, amusement dancing in his eyes.

Suddenly, an icy chill coursed through my veins. I turned to face them; both were grinning, engrossed in the ongoing battle. The timer continued to tick down, and any moment now, it would signal the end of the fight.

Neither of them seemed to notice the intensity of my gaze.

“What do you mean by survive?” I questioned, my voice low and menacing. “Death is against the rules.”

Mica stole a fleeting glance at me before redirecting his attention back to the fight.

“Only during the first week,” he clarified, his tone casual.

“What?” I demanded, my voice rising with urgency. This time, both of them turned to me, their expressions shifting to wary surprise. Even fellow Lycan chairmen understood the consequences of provoking me; it wouldn’t end well for them.

“The second and third weeks don’t penalize death,” Jeremy explained, narrowing his eyes at me, a hint of challenge in his demeanor. “You’d remember that if you had attended the last competition a decade ago.”

“Or the one before that, two decades ago,” Mica added, shaking his head in disbelief.

“Back then, he was merely a newly appointed Alpha,” Jeremy laughed, the sound echoing in the arena.

“True enough,” Mica replied, his focus returning to the fight.

“What are the rules for the subsequent rounds?” I pressed, my impatience palpable.

Mica sighed, glancing back at me.

“They can choose to die, or they can surrender,” he explained. “They don’t have to lose their lives… but if they refuse to submit, their opponent can take their life without facing any penalties.”

“It doesn’t have to be a fight to the death,” Jeremy interjected. “But if they’re foolish and stubborn, as some clearly are, then it will be.”

A cold dread settled in my bones…

The buzzer blared, pulling my attention back to the arena. One by one, the fighters began to shift back into their human forms, their naked bodies retreating to the locker rooms.

I spotted Judy’s small wolf standing in the center of the arena, her gaze directed skyward, as if offering thanks to the stars—or perhaps conversing with the Moon Goddess. She lingered for a moment, then glanced back at the throng of shifters returning to the locker rooms, hesitating as she did.

Our eyes met, and she held my gaze, a connection that felt electric. Then, without warning, she turned and sprinted in the opposite direction of the crowd. My heart raced, an undeniable urge to follow her coursing through me, and I knew I wouldn’t be able to resist it.

I glanced back at Mica and Jeremy, who were deep in conversation. The chosen judges sat at the front, engrossed in their own discussions. Most of the audience had moved to greet their favorites, but Nan’s frown was directed at the path Judy had taken, while a guy leaned in to whisper into her ear. I didn’t recognize him, but the way his hand rested on Nan’s leg sent a surge of protectiveness through me.
