The War God Alpha's Arranged Bride (Evelyn and Alexander) novel Chapter 379

**Steps Along Forgotten Roads**
**By Sophia Reed**
**Chapter 379: Clubbing**

Daisy Baldwin stood poised outside the grand Cash manor, her red Corvette’s engine purring softly beneath the night sky. The moonlight danced upon her golden curls, casting a shimmering glow that highlighted her striking features. Her pink overcoat clung to her figure, accentuating her silhouette. She had never envisioned herself working alongside Ethan, yet fate had a peculiar way of intertwining their paths. He had approached her one fateful evening, fully aware of her unspoken desire for Gavin, just as he harbored feelings for Judy.

Together, they formed an unlikely alliance, both determined to thwart the relationships they coveted.

As she waited, her heart raced with anticipation, and her gaze remained fixed on the manor’s entrance. When Ethan finally emerged, dragging his suitcase behind him, Daisy pressed her lips together in a tight line, arms crossed defiantly over her chest.

“You better have a solid reason for me picking you up at this ungodly hour, and what’s with the luggage?” she demanded, her tone sharp. “If you think for one second you’re crashing at my place—”

Before she could finish her thought, Ethan raised a hand to silence her, a smirk playing on his lips. He strode over to the trunk of her car, tossing his luggage inside with a casual flick of his wrist. Daisy’s mouth dropped open in disbelief as she hurried after him, her mind racing.

“What the hell do you think you’re doing?” she exclaimed, her voice rising in pitch. “That’s my car!”

“Get in,” he replied coolly, leaving no room for debate.

Stunned, she watched as he slipped into the driver’s seat, his intense gaze locking onto hers.

“I said get in!” he growled, his voice low and commanding.

With her heart pounding in her chest, Daisy swiftly rounded the car and slid into the passenger seat just as he pressed the gas pedal. The tires screeched against the asphalt, and her stomach lurched as they sped away.

“What on earth is happening, Ethan?” she gasped, gripping the seat tightly as they navigated through the bustling streets, weaving in and out of traffic. The thrill of the ride was both exhilarating and terrifying.

“We’re leaving,” he stated firmly, his eyes focused on the road ahead. “There’s somewhere we need to be.”

“Care to enlighten me?” she shot back, crossing her arms defiantly as the road finally cleared.

He turned to her, a mischievous glint in his eyes.

“Trust me,” he murmured, a playful smile tugging at his lips. “You’re going to love this.”

**Chapter 379: Clubbing**

**Judy’s POV**

Gavin insisted that we couldn’t hit the club without a few of his gamma warriors keeping watch over us, a precaution that didn’t surprise me in the least, especially with his daughter in tow. The pulsating music enveloped us, a cacophony of laughter and cheers filling the air as everyone surrendered to the rhythm. I wasn’t particularly fond of dance clubs, and it was clear Sammy felt the same; she had found a cozy corner, nursing the same drink for what felt like an eternity.

Part of me longed to join her, to escape the chaos and just relax, but Nan and Irene were having none of it.

“This is exactly what we needed,” Nan exclaimed, taking a long, deliberate sip of her drink, her eyes sparkling with excitement.

I nodded, lifting my glass to toast.

“To forgetting about guys,” I declared with a grin, fully aware that we all needed a little distraction from the men in our lives.

They cheered, clinking their glasses together in agreement.

“I’ll be back; I need to hit the bathroom,” Irene said, her words slightly slurred from the drinks she had consumed.

I watched her go, but before I could settle back into my seat, Nan pulled me back to the dance floor. The music surged, and we danced as if the world around us had faded away, laughter spilling from our lips as we swayed with our drinks held high. For a moment, I forgot about Chester, who I had last seen perched at the bar. A flicker of worry crossed my mind—what if he found someone else? The thought gnawed at me, knowing how much it would devastate Nan, especially since he was meant to be winning her trust.

But I kept my concerns to myself, not wanting to ruin the night for her. She deserved to have fun, even with Chester in the vicinity.

“We should check on Sammy,” I suggested, raising my voice above the music for Nan to hear.

Nan nodded, her energy finally starting to wane as the dancing took its toll.

We maneuvered through the throng of bodies until we spotted Sammy’s small table in the corner. To my surprise, Chester was seated with her. They weren’t engaged in conversation; instead, they appeared somewhat bored, sipping their drinks in a comfortable silence.

“Hey,” I greeted as I slid into the seat beside Chester, while Nan took the empty spot next to Sammy, deliberately avoiding Chester’s gaze.

“Have you been here the whole time?” I asked, taking a sip of my drink.

“Just a few minutes,” he replied, his tone casual. “I moved from the bar to here. Needed a break. Some of these women just don’t get the hint.”
