I looked

up from Jake lying on the ground to Connor who was staring haughtily at me.

I clasped my hands together, placing them on my mouth.

“Did you just…kll him?”

“I didn’t” Connor replied but I was panicking already.

“Shit, we killed someone. Now mom is going to get worried and I am going to go to jail and…” I was blabbering like an idiot.

“He’s just passed out” Connor repeated darkly but I didn’t believe him and decided to venture closer to Jake check if he had a pulse.

Scooting down on the ground, I placed a finger in front of his nose and looked up in alarm at Connor when ddin’t feel his breathing.

“Fuck, you really killed him!” I wobbled on my knees to place an ear on Jake’s chest, trying to focus on the sound of his heart beating.

But by then a pair of hands had hauled me up on my feet and Connor was staring at me icily.

“I said he is passed out not dead. Now are you going to tell me what the fuck is wrong with you?”

His hands held me firmly in place even when my knees were shaking and wanted to give up.

“I….he..he…was…”

“He was what? Are you out of your goddamn mind? Wearing such a revealing dress and throwing yourself at some random guy?”

He was yelling at me, all that earlier easy smile and composure gone. I recalled him always making fun of me but this dangerous glint in his eyes….. this was kind of new.

“I was just on a date” I replied in a low voice.

“A date? That thing…that asshole with a dick for a brain was your choice to come and meet tonight? Just to piss me off?”

“I didn’t know he was like that, okay” I said, some defensiveness creeping up in my voice

“You didn’t know? Even a blind person with a single braincell could see how he was ogling you and running his hands all over you the second he saw you!”

It was already an effort to stay awake and fight for my satery and Connor’s angry outburst was doing nothing good to me currently.

I shook off his hands like they had burned me and shot back.

“Why the hell are you lecturing me? Most importantly, who the fuck are you to lecture me??”

I shouted, pouring out all my frustration and anger on him.

That seemed to have caught him off guard because he suddenly blinked very slowly as he took a few se to process the question.

Seeing him tongue tied emboldened me further.

“In fact, you are the reason I ended up in this mess!” I said, pointing a finger at him and poking it in his Connor’s eyes narrowed as I swayed from left to right, trying to stand firmly on my feet.

“Me?” He asked sounding genuinely surprised.

“Yes, you!” I said, my finger still poking into his chest.

“You made that stupid bet with me. You made me hastily look…” I scratched my head, trying to focus on wh I was saying.

“To…look for a date under three hours!” I said, my heel tripping because of a stupid rock and making me los my balance.

Connor’s hand shot out to help me but I shook my head.

“I am okay. I…am…fine!” I repeated, looking around to locate my purse and wobbling towards it to lift it off the ground.

“So….where was I?” I said, holding my purse and staring straight at the three Connors I was seeing and figuring out which one was real.

“Hah. Yeah, so you….” I said pointing at the Connor in the middle, “…are the reason tonight was a disaster. You are the reason everything goes wrong in my life.”

I stumbled again and realized it was the stupid buff guy’s leg that was splayed on the ground right before me

I kicked him hard and my heels somehow connected with his groin. I think he twitched a little despite being passed out.

“And you fucker roaming all your sleazy hands on me…you..“I blinked, as a wave of nausea threatened to engulf me.

“Ok enough!” Connor approached me to pull me aside even as I raised my leg to deliver another kick on whatever body part of Jake it would land on

“Don’t you dare touch me!” I hissed at Connor who let out a long, audible sigh as if I was a petulant, bothersome child he had to deal with.

“You are beyond drunk. You can barely stand straight without collapsing.”

I jutted my chin up.

“Again because of you! I should have never taken the bait, never fucking tried to prove you wrong. You a wretched and you jinx everything in my life. Why the fuck did you even return to this city?”

I was shouting at the top of my lungs.
