The Wrong Brother’s Temptation
Chapter 185
Sienna
Connor snorted so loudly, the entire hospital must have heard it.
“I am sorry…I don’t follow” The doctor looked genuinely confused.
I was waving my hands in the air, trying to find the right words.
“I…just…”

“Did you notice a spontaneous burst of energy in me?” Connor asked from the bed, popping another
grape
in
his mouth.
“I…no”
I hated him!
“I think my neck hurts a little…” Connor gave a dramatic frown and the doctor glanced between us, waited a beat, then apparently decided he didn’t need the answer that badly.
“I think we should leave the alpha to rest, Rosa” he said, already backing toward the door. “Call if anything changes.”
“I think he might need some juice or his pain might flare up. Maybe, I should…” Rosa began but the doctor’s hand had already reached for the doorknob.
“No Rosa, we gotta look at other patients now that the alpha is awake. Come on”
Rosa threw a disgruntled look at him, then a longing look at Connor before reluctantly walking towards the door.
“I will be right here if you need me”
The door clicked shut behind her and I couldn’t deny that I hated seeing her get all mushy around him.
Connor tilted his head, voice filled with dry satisfaction.
“So…about that…”
“You heard nothing”
“You cried? For me?”
“I just got dust in my eyes last night….probably an infection” I waved my hand off, trying to appear unbothered.
“You didn’t leave my side even for a second and refused to sleep on a bed but stayed beside me instead?”

“I… wasn’t sleepy” I shrugged, failing to stifle a yawn.
:
“How about the breathy little noises you made when I…”
“Dont go there” I warned, pointing a finger at him.
“Or what?” He asked, eyes dancing with mischief.
“Or you let Rosa sit beside you all day and pray for your health”
“Are you sure you want her beside me all day?”
“Why not?” I muttered off-handedly.

He nodded. “I just wanted to make sure you would be okay if my wolf suddenly took over and lunged at whatever girl was in front of him”
I narrowed my eyes on him. “Is that all a wolf thinks of all day? I thought werewolves were supposed to be intelligent and strong creatures….not just horny rabbits”
“Says the one whose wolf hung a high resolution ‘claim me’ sign exclusively for me”
I pouted, murmuring to myself. “You looked better when you were asleep”
“And I thought you would be happy to see me suffer and bleed. After all, I was the reason for your suffering in childhood. Remember, you wanted to drown me in coke?”
I opened my mouth to argue but couldn’t come up with anything solid so closed it again.
Yeah, just why the hell did I feel sad for the man who made my life miserable? I didn’t know the answer or rather I didn’t want to think about it.
Connor chuckled and stretched his arms. “Okay, you’ve suffered enough for now. But you should….really think about it in your free time.”
I had questions regarding his wolf and if he had lost control but his question made me forget everything else and I felt nervous all of a sudden.
Connor noticed my expression and then added softly.
“The doctor agrees you can’t leave me alone, asleep or not, so you should smile around a patient, it relaxes them.”
I folded my arms. “I still need to bathe, eat and perform the other duties a Luna candidate is supposedly responsible for, in case you’ve forgotten there’s an entire pack outside this room that doesn’t revolve around your recovery schedule.”
He considered that for a moment, head tilted, golden flecks still lingering at the edges of his irises.
I naively thought that he was about to agree and that he’d wave me off with some clipped remark and let me escape long enough to scrub the evidence of him off my skin.

Instead he sat up, wincing only slightly, and nodded.

“Right. And it would be too much trouble for you to keep running from the hospital to the mansion every now and then. So let’s move back into our room.”
I stared at him speechless.
The words our room ricocheted around my skull like they’d been fired from a cannon.
“You want to move back in already?”
“The doctor gave me a go ahead. He will visit me as and when needed.”
“Okay”
Connor’s smile turned pure devilish. “Besides… the bed back home is softer and bigger”
I managed a nod eventually, because my brain had temporarily filed for bankruptcy.
“Cool. Maria will handle everything. I already instructed her”
Already? When did he even talk to her?
I was here the whole time…unless he did that while talking to the doctor.
My gaze lingered over the bandages on his neck and torso, unsure how he was acting so cool when his neck had been pierced and shredded brutally just last night.
I still shuddered at the memory of the raw mangled skin around his throat and wondered if it was a combination of his wolf’s healing and the doctor’s treatment or pure spite that he was back to being so cheeky already.
Partly I stayed back in the hospital because I wasn’t sure I wanted to even look at Elder Johanson again or Sandra without wanting to destroy something and the fact that I wasn’t going to face them alone made my shoulders sag a little.
Relief flickered for half a second until his gaze dropped deliberately to my neck and the smile sharpened.
