The roughness in his voice undid me.
The question came out low and rough, his voice scraped raw.
His hand locked around my wrist hard enough to make the point impossible to miss. In the dim garage light the black in his eyes had nearly swallowed the brown.
He looked furious as well as starved.
I tried to yank free anyway. “I failed to prove my point so let go of me.”
“No.”
Was he going to lecture me all over again? I had had enough of those for the night.
I tried wriggling free of his grasp again but he maintained a firm grip on my wrist.
“You’re manhandling me!”
“You climbed into my lap.” His voice cut sharp. “You put your mouth on my throat while I was driving. You bit my ear. Now you want to run like none of it happened?”
“I didn’t ask you to drive recklessly through the streets and endanger the lives of innocent people…”
“You didn’t ask me to stop driving either.” He tugged me back by the wrist and I half–fell against his chest.
The coat slipped further down my arms.
Cool air hit bare skin and I shivered, angry at my own body for reacting so fast. “You don’t get to start this and then leave. Not after the shit you pulled tonight.”
“The shit I pulled?” My voice rose. “You left me on that stage. You sat there and watched Bob throw me at those men like I was for sale!!”
“You shouldn’t have been there in the first place.”
“I know!! I know I was stupid and reckless and I shouldn’t have done any of the stuff I did tonight. I’m sorry for wasting your time, for ruining your mission, for being a roadblock to everything you want to achieve…”
He blinked, slightly taken aback by my response.
“I’ve been trying to talk to you, to get you to just listen to me, to not be so secretive but you just keep shutting me out. What option did you leave me with?”
“Jumping in my lap and kissing me looks like a good way to communicate” He quipped and I didn’t miss the sarcastic tone in his voice.

“Yes, I get it. You are in control, you are perfect, it’s just me who keeps switching between hating you and wanting you because of my stupid wolf but it’s all just a fake arrangement to you. You proved you are great and I am not, now can I go?”
I felt humiliated, hurt and broken all over again.
His eyes flared and his free hand fisted in my hair and yanked my head back.
The sting raced down my spine and turned into heat before I could stop it. A broken sound escaped me.
“Not before you tell me more.” his voice turned gravely. “Tell me how much you hate wanting me, Speckles. Talk all you want, I’m listening”
Speckles, not Sienna.
Maybe the cold, arrogant bully did feel something except anger after all.
His eyes dropped to my mouth like he hated how much he wanted it.
“I’ve been waiting for days,” I snapped, breathless and furious. “Ever since you lost control last time with me, you are maintaining this distance…it’s weird. Like you hated your wolf taking over you and fucking me against the wall and you never want a repeat of that incident.”
His eyes widened just a fraction, like somehow, I had read his mind correctly. Though, with him, I could never be a hundred percent sure.
“You train me like I am just some ordinary, random student for you. Yet, you won’t let me walk away when I even mention you should look for another stronger she–wolf despite knowing all my wolf and my body want is you. Do you fucking know how hard it is to not always be so desperate, so needy and not have a lick of control over yourself??”
My voice rose a little and I was glad we were in the garage, away from the servants or maids who could be awake even at this hour.
“And then… Lily, of all people? You spoke to her on the phone like she mattered and treated me like a problem you were stuck with!”
“You think I didn’t notice you?” His voice was almost a growl. “You think I didn’t smell how scared you were? How angry? You think I didn’t know exactly who was under that mask the entire time?”
The admission hit me like a slap. ““And you still let it happen so let me go. They wanted to kill you….I was…I was terrified of…”
“Of what?”
Of losing you…. of seeing you die in front of my eyes, of never getting to see you smirk at me, of never having my heart flutter for the guy I hated so much.
I blinked when that thought popped in my head, forgetting everything else for a while.
Was I scared of losing him??

No, don’t go there… I told myself and tried to yank away but then he pulled me flush against his chest.
“Tell me how much do you hate me”
Yes, that was easy, much more convenient than whatever that stupid reckless thought was. Connor confused me so much!
I stared at his eyes, at his half parted lips. “Right now, I want to smack your…”
He didn’t let me finish the sentence and kissed me.
It was hard and angry and devastating. His mouth claimed mine like he was punishing both of us for every sharp word and every night spent wanting.
A guttural sound tore out of his chest as he angled my head further with the fist in my hair, deepening the kiss until I could only fist his shirt and try to match the hunger in it.
I bit his lower lip. He growled into my mouth and kissed me harder, like he could erase the argument with teeth and tongue and this desire burning in my heart, in my very soul.
The car felt too small and cramped.
Even pressed against him he still felt too far, like some piece of him was locked away, far from my reach.
I tried to get closer and his hand in my hair tightened in warning.
He broke the kiss just enough to speak against my lips, voice wrecked.
“I’ll teach you how to be a tease since you are terrible at it.”
“I’m not teasing”
“You are.” He dragged his mouth along my jaw, then lower, open and deliberate, tasting the skin under my ear. “Grinding against me. Acting like you hate me while your body does this.”
–“I do hate you right now.”
“Liar.”
“I’m not lying!”
“Then why are you shaking?”
