Chapter 53
Sienna
The entire night I kept wondering how to put Connor at ease, or if he even wanted me to do that.

I kept recalling the way he had been pleasant and courteous to guests the entire night and had barely shown any discomfort once or twice.
He had been counting down the minutes to his mom’s birthday while his father celebrated his union with another woman.
I simply sat on my bed with the rumpled sheets, wondering what an awful feeling that would be.
1 had been sure that by the next morning, I would have come up with some nice words to say to him.
I hadn’t.
My inbox was empty and there were no new messages or missed calls from Connor. I chewed at my bottom lip, wondering if I should text him first but I didn’t even know what to say to him.
Groaning in frustration, I laid back on the bed, pulling the pillows over my head.
Just then my phone buzzed and I got up so fast, I would have broken a bone in my neck.
Disappointment made me frown to realize it wasn’t a text from Connor. It was not even from Aaron but Sandra.
I stared at the phone for a second like it was made of lava, not daring to open it.
Why was Sandra messaging me of all people?
I chewed the inside of my cheek, debating whether I should delete the message and pretend I never received it
But then my phone was ringing and her name flashed on my screen. My first thought was that she somehow found out about Aaron’s cheating and wanted to confirm it with me knowing that I was his best friend.
Shit, again I didn’t have enough words to console her but after staring at the phone for too long, I hesitantly picked up the phone, expecting to hear her wallowing in self pity.
But I was surprised to hear her cheerful voice.
“Hello, Sienna. Its me, Sandra.”
“Hi” I replied stiffly. I had her number because Aaron had saved it in my phone long before even starting to date her.
“What are you doing today?” She asked in that same cheerful voice.

Huh? This day was starting out pretty weird.
“Nothing… in particular” I said cautiously, wondering why the person who hated me had called me first thing in the morning to chitchat.
“Oh that’s wonderful” She said brightly. “Last night’s party was pretty exhausting and I was in the mood of some relaxation.”
“Okayyyy…” I still had no idea where she was going with this.
“So I was wondering if we should do a little girl’s night out. Or rather the whole day out. A few friends, all girls, by the way, so you don’t need to worry about it.”
I blinked slowly trying to digest the fact that Sandra wanted to hang out with me of all people.
“Uh, I thought you would want to relax and spend some time with Aaron” I said, unsure of how to avoid her invitation politely.
“Oh I wish. You know how these alpha heirs are supposed to behave. He met so many potential business partners and clients yesterday so he now has his entire day packed with meetings.”
“Oh” I raised an eyebrow though I knew she couldn’t see it.
In all my life that I had known Aaron, I hadn’t seen him work the entire day. Sure, he would assist his dad with pack duties whenever needed but it was Alpha Asher who largely controlled everything as far as I knew. “Yeah” She chuckled. “I guess I should get used to the life of boring parties and cocktail dinners with my friends because Aaron would barely have time for me after taking up most of the alpha duties.”
I wasn’t sure if she shared that as a complaint but it sounded awful a lot like bragging.
“I… think you should go out with your friends. I…have to go meet my friend and help her with something.”
I was inventing lies on the spot. Sure, I hadn’t spoken to Jane but she wouldn’t mind if I showed up at her place to watch movies and gossip.
“Oh then you can bring your friend along. The more the merrier as they say” She quipped and I was struggling to come up with reasons to say no.
I had always been bad at being blunt and upfront.
“Some other time, Sandra. I dont even feel like getting up from my bed.”
I thought she would finally take the cue but then I heard her phone being taken from her.
“Sia, come on, whats the harm in spending time with Sandra? You guys can have so much fun together.”
Aaron spoke from the other end.
“I didn’t mean…” I began but he cut me off and then lowered his voice a little.

“Sandra is trying so hard to be friends with you despite the fiasco last night. She isn’t holding grudges and being nice, right? Why can’t you be nice to her for once?”
It didn’t take him even seconds to blame me all over again.
“Aaron, don’t put this on me.” I replied haughtily and I could visualise him raising his hands in mock surrender.
