"Where is your ring?" His voice turned freezing cold.

"I threw it away."

The moment the words left her mouth, the last thread of Garrison's self-control snapped.

He lunged forward, grabbing her waist and pinning her shoulder, shoving her backward with a brutal, domineering force.

Caught off guard, Sloane's back slammed hard against the frigid glass of the window. She let out a muffled gasp as the cold pierced through her thin robe.

Garrison pressed his body flush against hers, trapping her against the pane. His knee wedged aggressively between her legs, his warm chest crushing against hers. Through their clothes, he could feel her racing heartbeat and the lingering, sharp scent of tobacco on her skin.

"Threw it away?" He lowered his head, his nose brushing against hers, his voice dangerously hoarse. "Sloane, that was a wedding ring."

His hand slid from her shoulder to grip her empty ring finger, squeezing hard enough to crush the nonexistent band. "Tell me, where did you throw it?"

"I forget. Probably... in some trash can."

That was the final straw.

Garrison crushed his mouth against hers in a punishing, furious kiss.

It wasn't tender; it was a savage claiming. His tongue forced its way past her lips, carrying the bitter taste of tobacco and his unbridled rage, stealing all the air from her lungs. The kiss was desperate and rough, a primal attempt to prove she was still his, to possess her completely...
