There's No Love In the Deathzone (BL) novel Chapter 628

Chapter 628: Side Story 1. The Twilight Zone - 10

"Wedding, huh..." Zein muttered, tasting the word with his tongue while the conference call suddenly became rowdy with sudden excitement.

It was an event he never thought would ever happen until that evening on the beach when Bassena abruptly asked him to marry the esper. It was cute, it was beautiful, but more importantly, it made Zein realize that he wasn’t aversed to the idea.

[Right away!] The Elder, as if finding his strength back from the oxygen tank, slammed his hand on the armrest. [We need to have it soon!]

[Elder, do you think a wedding can be conjured up from thin air?] Senan’s newly wedded daughter sighed; the memory of preparing for her own wedding was still fresh in her mind.

It was hard enough with the family members scattered here and there, which meant fewer people to help. From decorations and deciding on the menu, not to mention choosing the clothes...

Zein might not be the fussy type, but there was no way they could do a wedding for two people heralded as modern heroes half-heartedly.

This means the process would be even more rigorous than hers.

[It needs to happen before the baby’s here!]

And then there was this hard-headed Elder.

[Of course, but--]

[We only need the wedded couple and an officiator to hold a wedding. Just do it in the lake house and have a party late--]

"No."

A stern remark came behind Zein, and they all looked at the source while blinking in surprise. First because of the stern rejection, and second because Bassena had been timidly hiding behind Zein without saying anything since earlier.

Even Zein looked surprised.

"No," Bassena repeated again after a few seconds of silence. "I don’t want to do it sloppily."

[Slopp--]

"You said it yourself--what we had done had been far from the proper way," Bassena shifted so he sat beside Zein instead of hiding behind the guide, straightening his back so he looked more resolute.

He recalled all of their chaotic moments: how they met accidentally in a cave, how they built their feelings through life-and-death situations, how they became official after a screaming match...

Even after they became a couple, things loved to get awry, from the imprinting process to the real process that disregarded Bassena’s original plan, and then the unplanned pregnancy.

Not that it was a bad thing per se, and Zein had told Bassena that it was just their brand to have things happening in chaos. But still--or rather, it was precisely because of that...

"So at least...at least for the wedding, I want to do it right. I want to do it properly," Bassena continued firmly.

The way he said it, Bassena looked like he was about to go to war rather than planning a worthy wedding for the love of his life. Not even while diving into a dungeon did he look this serious.

The one who reacted first was the cheeky Arlo--who only had his bravery equipped because he was out of smacking range in Althrea. [Look here, Old Man--it’s not like the baby will be here tomorrow]

[Right--it’s not even a month yet, so we still have time] Lisa, Arlo’s partner-in-crime as well as nemesis, chimed in with a loud clap. [Wouldn’t it be a disgrace if the Patriarch’s wedding is done sloppily?]

[Urk...]

Oh, not bad? Zein raised his brow. That was an argument that the Elder wouldn’t be able to refute. The smirk on the others’ faces told Zein that they were thinking the same.

[Ugh--fine...] Naturally, the Elder had no choice but to relent. [Just make sure it happens before the baby’s here so the birth certificate won’t get complicated]

"Still," Bassena smiled and threw the Elder a bone. "I’d like to do it in the lake house too."

Senan raised his brow. [Oh? I thought you’d make a grand event in Althrea]

"I said I wanted to do it properly, but it doesn’t mean it has to be super grand," Bassena pursed his lips.

[Ah-ha!]

"But Zein should still be the one to decide," Bassena retreated slightly while looking at Zein.

"Sure, I don’t mind," the guide shrugged, answering without even pausing to think. Well, Zein didn’t think he needed to ponder much about it. "Honestly, I don’t mind if we just go to the registry office tomorrow--since the rings are already here and all," he added while raising his hand.

"H-hey!"

Zein chuckled and patted the esper’s cheek. "I’m saying that I’ll be fine with anything."

Bassena pursed his lips slightly before exhaling. "Phew...alright," he nodded. "Since we decided on the place, what about the time?"

"What about it?"

Zein laughed at the blatantly bad lie and continued to pat his adorable fiance. "Cute," he said with a clear glee in his melodious voice.

The youngsters giggle from behind the screens, but even Senan enjoyed the sight of his Young Master’s softening feature. It was still hard letting him go to someone else, but that face filled with love and affection was miles better than the one filled with tension and worry.

Even the Elder could only sigh in resignation. Perhaps that was why the youngsters were becoming bolder.

[I thought this old man would finally collapse this time] Arlo snickered. [Why are you still breathing, Old Man?]

[This rascal!] The finally calm Elder flared up again. [How can I die before seeing Young Master’s children?!]

"Children?" Zein raised his brow. "You already want me to get pregnant again before this one is due?"

The Elder coughed. [T-that’s not what I mean!]

Laughter filled the call as the Elder made a horrified expression and Bassena turned into a steamed crab. Ah, too bad he couldn’t eat seafood anymore...Zein clicked his tongue in annoyance and clapped his hands, ending the cheery atmosphere.

"Well, joking aside, if you’re already saying it like this, you should make sure to keep yourself healthy until the wedding day, Gramps," Zein snapped his fingers. "And Senan, let’s meet up soon with the executives to talk about the Far East District."

[Yes, Young Ma--no] Senan straightened his back and nodded politely. [Yes, Patriarch]

Afterward, they talked about when and where they would have a meeting about the seven percent right they had over the new district. With everyone back, there was also a need to do some restructuring in their household’s management and the Iron Shield. With Bassena entering the household after the wedding, there was also a legal matter regarding the name change and integrating Bassena’s company into the clan’s assets.

When the call was finally over, Bassena let out a long sigh he had been holding back and collapsed to the guide’s lap.

"Hmm..." Zein tilted his head and stroked the platinum hair in reward. "That wasn’t so bad, right?"

"Considering I wasn’t getting chewed to bits...yeah,"

Zein chuckled and leaned down to kiss the esper, praising the good snake boy and making Bassena flustered again. Laughing at the cute reaction, Zein leaned back against the couch and pondered.

"A child, a wedding, a house..." he tapped Bassena’s cheek while making the list. "There’s a lot we should prepare for the future."

The blue eyes blinked slowly, and the pretty lips below curled up slightly.

"It’s nice."
