Chapter 12
Chase had been making Camila’s life a living hell these days.
One day, while the guards were distracted, Camila snuck out and threw herself into his arms the second she saw him. She grabbed his hand and pressed it against her stomach, crying and laughing at the same time.
“Chase, look-he kicked! Our baby, he really-he’s moving…”
She was desperately hoping he’d show some mercy-for the sake of their child, for the past they once
shared.
But Chase turned his head in disgust and spat out one cold word.
“Get out.”
Camila snapped.
“You don’t even want your own child?! What is it about Nora that makes you treat her like this?! What does
she have that I don’t?!”
The next second, Chase’s hand was locked tight around her throat.
“She’s a thousand times better than you will ever be, Camila. And you’ll never understand why.”
“This baby is not staying.”
He sneered.
“You think someone like you deserve to carry my child?”
Camila went cold all over, like she’d fallen into an icy lake.
But Chase’s face didn’t soften one bit. He turned to the bodyguards and ordered flatly,
“Take her. I don’t care how-just get rid of it.”
Camila kicked and screamed, but was still dragged away.
Chase watched it all, not a flicker of emotion in his eyes-only the cold satisfaction of revenge.
To him, it was all Camila’s fault.
She had driven Nora away.
She had made Nora angry.

“You’re right-this project has no overlap with Faulkner’s existing portfolio. But my fiancée happens to like this spot. So I’m buying it-for her.”
Fiancée?
Chase stiffened.
He immediately remembered what his assistant had reported and clenched his fists.
“When did you get a fiancée? Since when?!”
Dominic didn’t even blink.
“Didn’t realize I had to report my private life to you.”
There was a flicker of something in his smile-mocking, maybe.
And it put Chase on edge.
He suddenly had a sinking feeling in his chest.
Who was this mysterious fiancée of Dominic’s?
Could it really be… Nora?
–
Halfway through the bidding, during the break, Chase found Dominic in the stairwell-wanting to talk terms, maybe get him to back off.
But just as he walked up, he heard a sweet, familiar voice:
“Wait-seriously? You bought this entire amusement park project just so I could get the best view of the
fireworks?”
“You’re too good to me, Dominic! I love you~!”
And then he heard it-her voice. Soft. Bright. Happy. His feet stopped cold. It hit him like lightning.
