This Time, I’ll Be the Villain’s Favorite Daughter

Chapter 274 Possessiveness

A silence fell over the room.

The string of three questions left the middleaged man utterly humiliated.

I’m your elder, Edric. Is this really how you’re going to treat me? You used to call me Uncle.”

Yeah, before.” Edric slowly repeated the man’s words. The corners of his lips even curved slightly upward. If you hadn’t mentioned it, I would’ve forgotten. Back then, none of you ever bothered to listen to anything I said.”

In the eyes of most of the Clarks, what wishes or opinions could children possibly have?

Weren’t they just people to be controlled?

Even after growing up, they were still expected to obey their elders.

I told everyone to change the rules. How did you still dare send someone in to interfere?

Edric turned around, pulled the gun from the holster at someone’s waist beside him, and pressed it firmly against the man’s head.

His voice remained gentle, almost as if he were greeting an elder. Uncle, do I really have to press a gun to your head before you’ll take my question seriously?

The force behind it was so great that the oppressive pressure made the man’s knees give out. He dropped to the floor on the spot.

His face went completely pale, twisted in a mix of shock and terror. His lips trembled. He had never imagined that Edric would actually point a gun at him.

Edric! I was doing it for their own good! I was doing it for Alfred’s sake! And that sister of yours too. She got hurt, but she wasn’t going to die. It was only a small injury. Aren’t you afraid I’ll settle the score with her later?

To him, it truly seemed like a trivial matter.

Not to mention Maya, who wasn’t even related by blood. Even George and Toby had suffered far worse when they were younger.

Edric only felt that the old man kept pushing his emotions further and further. The young man raised the gun, took aim, and pulled the trigger. The suppressor swallowed most of the sound.

Only a dull thud and the crack of shattered bone remained.

The bullet tore straight through the man’s shoulder blade. Blood exploded across the fabric of

his suit.

The middleaged man let out a distorted scream and collapsed sideways onto the floor.

Everyone else in the monitoring room immediately lowered their heads and held their breath. No one dared move. No one dared speak.

The air filled with the faint scent of gunpowder and the metallic smell of blood.

Edric tossed the gun back to the person beside him and strode out of the monitoring room.

At the doorway, he paused. Without turning around, he spoke in a voice loud enough for everyone to hear clearly.

If you bother her again, you’ll die.

The door closed behind him, cutting off all sound.

The hallway stretched on endlessly beneath harsh white lights.

Edric walked quickly forward, one hand shoved into his pocket. His hand was trembling uncontrollably.

He was far too nervous.

Edric was someone who lacked a sense of security to an extreme degree. Most of his childhood had been spent losing things. The only people who had been allowed to stay alive and remain by his side were his family.

He had no companions, no teachers, no close friends. Nothing.

He instinctively feared loss, which was why he never wanted to become attached to anything.

For him, taking even a single step forward felt utterly insurmountable.

During the days he had spent at home, he often found himself staring at Maya without realizing it.

He never knew what to say. The past was long gone. It felt as though there was nothing left for them to talk about.

But emotions were never something he could simply control because he wanted to. He knew everything that had happened to her on the island. In fact, before he had even left home, he had already been planning what kind of environment to create for this training exercise.

If there had been enough time, he would have replaced every child on the island with a group

of harmless, completely safe idiots.

Naturally, Philbert knew all about what he had been doing.

Philbert’s feelings were complicated.

Are you trying to raise a little sister, or are you trying to grow a flower?

Edric’s voice remained calm, but for some reason Philbert thought he detected the faintest trace of grievance. She’s not my flower.”

Of course she’s not your flower. She’s your sister.

Edric froze for a moment. The way you said that makes it sound like you’ve acknowledged her.

I haven’t,Philbert denied. That’s enough. Rein in that possessiveness and overprotectiveness of yours. She still has a long road ahead of her.

Edric remained silent for several seconds. I know.”
