Chapter 292 Maya’s First Lesson
No one dared step forward, and no one said a word.
Wendy ignored their expressions, turned around, and walked off without another glance.

Raymond let out a sigh and quickly pulled Maya along, stepping around the man lying on the ground and slipping through a gap in the crowd.
His hand felt cool around Maya’s wrist.
Today, he still had someone to kill.
This counted as Maya’s first lesson.
The taxi stopped outside the hotel entrance. Raymond got out first, then turned back and guided Maya out of the back seat.
The revolving doors turned slowly as the two walked into the magnificent lobby.
“Hello, welcome.” One of the front desk employees greeted them with a smile, her gaze lingering on them for a moment longer.
Raymond’s coat was thin, he looked gentle and scholarly, and he carried a timid sort of demeanor while holding the hand of a little girl who looked like a doll.
He looked very much like a suspicious kidnapper.
Raymond ignored the strange look from the receptionist. Looking perfectly natural, he walked straight to the lobby bar and ordered a hot milk.
Then, holding Maya’s hand, he headed in another direction.
Not toward the elevators, but toward the lounge area on the side of the lobby.
Maya obediently followed and asked quietly, “Dad, aren’t we going upstairs?”
“In a minute.” Raymond’s voice was soft as his eyes casually swept across every corner of the lobby. “We’re waiting for someone.”
About ten minutes later, a middle–aged man wearing a manager’s name badge passed by.
Raymond picked up the cup of milk and stood, holding Maya’s hand with his free one as they walked toward the manager. “I’ll teach you a lesson, Maya.”
What followed was Raymond putting on an Oscar–worthy performance.
Raymond lowered his head, pretending to joke with Maya while his peripheral vision tracked the other man’s footsteps.
He calculated the exact moment the man shifted his step slightly to the side, and Raymond just happened to walk past from the side, his shoulder colliding perfectly with the manager’s elbow.
Half the cup of milk splashed out, spilling across the manager’s dark suit jacket and running down the fabric.

Raymond panicked instantly. “I’m sorry! I’m so sorry! Let me send it to the laundry room for you. I’m really
sorry.
While the other man complained, Raymond hurriedly tried to wipe it clean.
His movements were clumsy, only making the stain more obvious the more he wiped.
The manager frowned.
But considering that this man might possibly be some important guest staying in a luxury suite, losing his temper recklessly would only create an ugly scene.
So he could only grit his teeth and force out, “Forget it. Just go, and watch where you’re going next time.”
Raymond immediately smiled and agreed.
He stepped back, then hurriedly turned around and pulled his daughter away.
The moment he turned around, every trace of expression on his face receded like a tide.
“Hotels like this need key cards for the elevators, and different floors have different permissions,” Raymond said quietly, rubbing his fingertips together as he flipped over the universal room key card for Maya to see. “Stealing the manager’s master card is the simplest method.”
Under the hotel lighting, the card reflected a muted black sheen. There were no markings on it except for a small chip symbol in the corner.
“Dad,” Maya interrupted him in amazement, “when did you steal it?”
She hadn’t noticed his movements at all.
All she’d seen was her dad apologizing frantically.
Maya had even thought Raymond was trying to teach her that once she entered society, even assassins had to sincerely apologize when they made mistakes.
“I did it just now while I was patting his clothes. This pickpocket trick may be old, but it still works.” Raymond slid the card back into his sleeve and led her toward the elevators. “If you don’t want to go through all the trouble of stealing, you can also just grab it by force, or hack into the hotel’s system and remotely change the card permissions.
“But that’s still too advanced for you right now.”
Raymond swiped the master card and pressed the target floor–23.
