Chapter 322 Chance Went Missing
Lucy’s
Running into Maya on the way eased Lucy’s nerves a little.
She turned, ready to go look for Chance.
“Do you know what’s going on, Maya?”
Finished
Maya actually did, but compared to that, she was more surprised that no one here seemed to carry guns.
“Do you have anything to protect yourself? Like a gun?”
Lucy blinked. “Uhh, I don’t have one.”
“We do have an armory,” she said, breathing fast, her voice tight. “But it’s always under Mr. Bennett’s control. Unless we’re on a mission, we’re not issued firearms. There’s no time to get there now. All the routes are cut off. We’re trapped in the core zone.”
She forced a faint smile and added, “Let’s go find Chance first. He’s probably just as confused.”
Maya nodded and followed behind her.
But when they got to his office, they found it empty.
“Where’s Chance?” Maya asked, frowning. “He didn’t just run off, did he?”
Lucy froze for a moment. Then confusion filled her face, followed by a slow-rising unease. “Come to think of it, I don’t think I’ve seen him at all since noon.”
“Aren’t you two always together?”
“We are.” Lucy’s voice dropped as she tried to recall. “This morning, Mr. Bennett asked for me, but I was too sleepy, so I didn’t go. Chance went instead. He said it was just routine questioning. I asked Chance to put in a leave request for me, and after he went-”
She stopped.
The two of them looked at each other.
Maya’s eyelid twitched. She finished the thought. “He never came back?”
Lucy’s expression darkened. “I don’t know. I sent him messages, but he didn’t reply.”
Maya fell silent.
Damn it.
Ernest!
Without hesitation, Maya grabbed Lucy and ran straight to Ernest’s office. She kicked the door open.
It was empty. He was long gone.

So he had lied last night after all.
Talking about going down together: Like hell.
A man like him, who could kill his own father at fourteen and take power, is never the type to accept his fate.
But why did he take Chance?
To threaten me?
Maya searched the office thoroughly.
As expected, she found a note.
“I’ve taken your friend, little assassin. If luck is on your side and he doesn’t fall into another group’s hands, I’ll return him to you.”
“If I get caught, Maya… will you save me?”
When Ernest left the note, his emotions had been a mix of unease and excitement.
He wanted the Imperial Order to end. He wanted those damned members gone. He wanted everything that bound him to be destroyed.
But he intended to walk away from the ruins.
And Chance was his ticket.
Maya Clark… Maya Clark… Maya Clark…
He repeated her name countless times in his mind.
It’s an ordinary name, but she shared a surname with the Clarks.
Could she be connected to that rumored mafia family?
Ernest had been thinking about that for days.
Maya might not care about him, but she definitely cared about Chance.
He wasn’t a good man. Taking Chance was his gamble for a sliver of survival.
He didn’t know whether Maya would become that sliver.
Maya figured it out just as quickly and cursed under her breath. “That old bastard.”
Her mood turned foul. When she saw Ernest again, she fully intended to beat him half to death.
Just then, a series of synchronized footsteps echoed from the end of the corridor.
There were at least a dozen people, all fully armed.

Chapter 322 Chance Went Missing
Maya didn’t hesitate. She grabbed Lucy and ran.
They headed toward an abandoned passage on the east side of the base.
A shout came from behind them. “Stop! You two, stop!”
Finished
Maya ignored it completely. She pulled bucy along, weaving through the maze-like corridors. Every turn looked the same, yet she remembered the path without a single mistake.
They shook off one group of pursuers.
Only to run into another at the next corner.
This group was different.
Maya scanned them with a glance.
They had professional gear, including tactical vests, standard-issue rifles, earpieces, and night-vision equipment, likely government forces.
The undercover agents planted by the authorities had already obtained a full list of Imperial Order members.
After spotting the two girls, someone immediately pulled out the list and compared the photos.
The green-haired girl wasn’t on it.
But Lucy, as a core member, had her name and photo clearly printed there.
“See the girl next to the mosshead?” The leader said quietly into his earpiece, pointing at the screen. “Take her.”
Maya stomped her foot.
Mosshead?
That’s rude.
She pulled Lucy behind her and stepped forward, placing herself in front of her.
