Chapter 347 Different Strategy
But when Maya did it, Ned only found it hilarious.
“Hahahahaha!”
Ned bent over the table laughing so hard that his shoulders shook.
Maya was the only niece who could make him laugh like this.
Ever since becoming the family head, he had been depressed and bored. Every day was filled with financial reports and power struggles. Life had seemed completely dull.
Only in recent years had he realized that Raymond and Wendy’s family somehow managed to create a different piece of entertainment every single day.
At that moment, Ned suddenly felt that life was actually pretty interesting.
He even started looking forward to the future.
These days, he no longer felt down at night. Whenever Raymond and Wendy’s family returned to the Clark Residence, he would make sure to come home on time and wait for the show to begin.
Seeing Philbert staring at him expressionlessly, Ned reluctantly stopped laughing. He tried his best to sound like a serious elder. “So just because you’re bored, you can dye your hair whatever color you want?”
Originally, he had planned to scold her a little for appearance’s sake. At least then Philbert couldn’t say he hadn’t tried.
But considering Maya’s explosive temper, he quickly abandoned that unwise idea.
Scolding her wouldn’t work. He needed a different strategy.
So, his tone shifted into something closer to a boss speaking to an employee. His smile faded. “Maya, I have a mission for you and Iris.”
Maya blinked. “What mission?”
“A bodyguard assignment.” Ned set his pen down on the desk. The employees in the conference room immediately got the hint and began packing up their things. The last person out even thoughtfully closed the door behind them.
“A client needs someone from Silent Archive to protect a young heiress from overseas while she attends Harmony International School.
“This is a confidential mission. Among our people, only you and Iris meet the age requirement. Would you two be willing to take it?”

Chapter 349 School Is Worse Than Prison
Jordan lifted his chin stubbornly and shot back, “Sooner or later, I’ll have Arrabella beat you senseless!”
Although Maya beat him up every time, he refused to believe Arrabella couldn’t beat her.
Maya had freakish strength. He could barely fight his way out of a paper bag, so it made sense that he couldn’t beat her.
But Arrabella was a serious kickboxer.
Nearby, Jenny saw that her friend had finally returned and nearly cried out in surprise.
She hurried forward, afraid Maya would be outnumbered, and pulled her to her side.

The girl folded her arms and snapped, “Wow, Jordan, could you be any more shameless? Wer you born without shame, or did you lose it somewhere? Why would Arrabella help you, you shameless jerk?”
Even after being insulted like that, Jordan didn’t lose his temper.
He instinctively looked at Arrabella to see how she’d react, only to find her looking back at hir
too.
Jordan immediately looked away, guilt flashing through his eyes.
He knew Arrabella liked him.
But Jordan still couldn’t forget Kaia’s bright eyes.
People always said the first real crush of your life was the hardest to forget. He had liked Kaia since he was very young, and that feeling seemed carved into his bones. No matter what, he couldn’t shake it.
Arrabella caught his avoiding gaze. Her faint smile slowly faded, and she lowered her head, looking a little dejected, before returning to her seat without saying anything else.
Maya was finally back in prison. No, worse. School.
She set her backpack on the desk, then slumped over it like all her bones had vanished.
Her friends immediately crowded around her, their gossip radar on full alert.
Jenny was the first to lean in, her eyes sparkling. “Maya, Maya, what have you been doing? Why haven’t you been here in a month? We thought you went abroad on vacation!”
“I didn’t go abroad.” Maya buried her face in her arms and said in a flat voice, carrying the world-weary exhaustion of someone who had seen too much. “But two days ago, I was still stirring up trouble at a crime syndicate’s headquarters, and today I got dragged back to school. It’s so boring.”
Vincent glanced at her in amusement and crossed one leg over the other. “Maya, why are you making the same boring joke again?”
Maya always seemed like she’d never grown out of her edgy phase.
Every now and then, she said something completely outrageous.

Maya loved coming here to hang out with Philbert.
And Philbert liked inviting her over from time to time to play board games or try other activities to pass the time.
Right now, Maya spun around excitedly, looking for him.
