Chapter 399 A Strange Grown-Up

After saying that, she blinked hard and managed to squeeze out a few tears, trying to prove her point

Hearing that, Alfred nodded seriously. “Then go ahead and cry.”

Maya was speechless.

This person is unbelievable.

Annoyed, she grabbed a pillow and hurled it at the unwanted guest.

When the pillow flew toward him, Alfred didn’t dodge.

It bounced softly off his head and landed on the carpet.

Looking down at the pillow, he suddenly remembered a game they used to play when they were little.

Maya would point her fingers like a gun. And he would obediently fall over, playing along.

Every single time, she would laugh.

Now, Maya had thrown a pillow at him.

Without hesitation, Alfred chose to collapse.

He dropped to the floor decisively, lying motionless on the carpet as though the pillow had genuinely

killed him.

Maya was stunned.

Her pillow was still raised in the air. Her eyes widened, and her mouth hung slightly open.

She stared at the unmoving boy on the floor, her mind struggling to process what she was seeing

Seriously?

How could anyone be killed by a pillow?

‘Are you okay?”

Jumping off the bed, she crouched beside him and smacked him with the pillow again.

Alfred remained perfectly still.

“You killed me.”

His voice was completely flat.

Maya rolled her eyes.

“You’re lying!”

“I’m not.” He continued lying there as if he were stating a scientific fact. “That pillow was too heavy. I

couldn’t survive it.”

Maya stared at him.

A boy much older than her was lying on the carpet with a completely serious expression, insisting that pillow had killed him.

The corners of her lips couldn’t help lifting.

“You’re funny. Get up already. I’ve decided not to hit you anymore.”

A faint smile appeared on Alfred’s lips. Suppressing the urge to pull her into a hug, he slowly sat up, careful not to startle her.

“Do you have any wishes?” he asked. “You can tell me. I’ll help make them come true.”

Holding her doll, Maya retreated to the side of the bed.

She had never believed that anyone would be kind without wanting something in return.

“If you help me, what do you want from me?”

She carefully watched his expression.

“My dad is the richest man in the country. He has lots of money. I don’t.”

If someone wanted something, they should be trying to please her father.

“I don’t want money,” Alfred said.

Maya didn’t believe him. Hugging her doll, she hid half her body behind the bedpost, leaving only half he face visible as she watched him warily.

Alfred looked at her and suddenly felt dazed.

The Maya he remembered wasn’t like this. She had never worn her emotions so openly.

This girl felt more like the original Maya.

A little reckless. A little childish. Someone who showed every feeling plainly on her face.

Why was there such a huge difference between the two?

Alfred studied her. “If something is bothering you, you can tell me.”

Maya said nothing. She only tightened her grip on the doll.

She didn’t trust him.

Alfred could tell that his presence made her uneasy.

Chapter 3994-Strange Grown-Up

After all, a complete stranger appearing out of nowhere and claiming to be her brother would sound suspicious to anyone.

The boy didn’t move any closer.

“I’ll go now.” As he spoke, he picked up the pillow and placed it back on the bed. “Good night, Maya.”

Maya ignored him.

Alfred reached the door and paused.

Without turning around, he tilted his head slightly and spoke in a quiet voice.
