“But, that’s reasonable reason…”
“You are going to die if there is a rejection. Your wolf spirit will not be able to take it.”
Fenja was stunned when she heard that. “Arya had confirmed it?” And Fenja watched Xaden nodded lightly. “Is that the reason why you don’t want to reject me?”
“Yes.”
The answer was curt and Fenja couldn’t hide how hurt her feeling was, but then Xaden added. “One of the reasons.”
“What is the other reason for you not to reject me?” Fenja gathered her courage to lift her head, so she could see Xaden right in the eyes when he gave the answer. “Do you… care about me?”
“You are the mother of my son.”
“Thats it?”

SOMETHING WILL HAPPEN IN THIS PACK
Fenja bit her tongue and lowered her head after the question, because she shouldn’t have asked in the first place, it would only hurt her more. What did she expect?
She thought Xaden would suddenly care about her?
Her self confidence must be at the lowest point, as she blamed herself for someone who couldn’t love her the way she wanted it.
She felt bad for herself and for the situation, especially for Jaxon because she brought him into this life, but then when she thought about it again, it was Xaden, who had created this situation.
Should she be mad at him? She didn’t know. She wanted to be mad at someone, but it was easier to be mad at herself and pointed all the blame to her face.
She was stupid.
She hated herself even more.
And Fenja’s dark thought grew like a disease that spread through her blood. She hated her life and she hated everything that caused her pain.
Xaden was the source of her pain, but she couldn’t hate him properly and she hated herself even more for that.
This vicious circle continued in Fenja’s head.
“Fenja…”
Fenja snapped from her self deprecating thought when Xaden shook her shoulder lightly. Apparently, he had been calling her name, but she ignored him.
“Fenja.”
“Huh? Yes?” She looked at him in confusion. “I… I am sorry, I didn’t follow. You said something?”
Xaden was so close, his face was only a few inches away from hers and she could smell his scent, though her senses had dulled a lot lately.
For a long moment, Xaden simply stared at Fenja before he shook his head.
“No. It’s fine if you don’t hear that.”
“What is it?” Fenja furrowed her brows, she didn’t realize that Xaden had moved closer towards her. Their knees touched. “I am sorry, I didn’t get what you said in the first time, can you repeat that?”
fine. I only want you to stay in the Black Moon pack for the meantime when she is here.”
“She?” Fenja then realized who was ‘she‘ that Xaden meant. “Do you mean the princess?”
Xaden didn’t confirm that, but both of them knew they were talking about the same person. “Kane will go with you to stay in the Black Moon pack. I will arrange everything and you will leave by the end of this week with Jaxon.”
“And… she will leave here?” This was worse than a rejection. She thought, she would prefer a rejection better than this if only she could survive it. She didn’t want to die. She didn’t want to leave her son behind.
“Yes.”
Fenja gritted her teeth, she lowered her head to hide the hatred and anger in her eyes. She wanted to scream at Xaden on the top of her lungs, but at the same time, she wanted to beg him not to treat her this way. “Xaden… I want to go back to my pack…”
She didn’t know Black Moon Pack. She didn’t know the people there. And the humiliation… she wouldn’t be able to stand the humiliation.
“No,” Xaden growled, and it startled Fenja, but she didn’t lift her head and fix her eyes on her lap. “This is only a temporary measure. You will come back after I take care the matter here.”

“No.” Fenja shook her head. “I don’t think there is a place for me to come back anymore.”
“What do you mean?” Xaden furrowed his brows. He saw the agony in her beautiful green eyes and he hated himself because he was the reason for her sadness.
“Xaden… do you even want me? If it is not because of the reason to avoid the king’s arrangement, do you even want me? You don’t even know that I am exist.” Fenja smiled, but it didn’t reach her eyes at all. She looked at him with pain. “And now, your plan failed. The king still managed to make his daughter as the luna of the pack, I don’t think you need me anymore.”
Fenja felt like a burden for Xaden. The only reason she was here was because Xaden needed her to prevent the king from getting what he wanted, but now his daughter was on the way here, thus it was safe to say that she was no longer needed.
Fenja was familiar with this feeling. The feeling of abandonment. It was the same feeling that she felt when she was with her parents. They didn’t want her, she was there simply because she existed.
