The words hang there, impossible and heavy. I shake my head. “I’m not- I mean, I didn’t even-”
He leans forward, pressing a finger lightly to my lips. “Do not fear the title. It does not chain you. It only names what already exists.”
I lower my hand, still staring at the sigils as they fade and brighten with each heartbeat. “They’re beautiful,” I whisper.
