Chapter 141
Kael
The air thickens with magic as 1 drop to all fours, claws digging into the soft earth. I shake out my mane, flames licking down my spine before settling into a fair ember glow. When I look up, she’s already there. Trouble’s hellhound form is leaner than mine, built more for speed than brute strength, but gods, she’s beautiful. Smoke curls from her nostrils, her fur a dark rimson that shifts to black at the edges like burnt silk. Her eyes-those same blue-gold eyes-flash in challenge. She growls, low and taunting and I bare my teeth in answer before the clearing explodes into motion. She darts left, and I follow. She’s faster, weaving between the trees with impossible grace. I lunge and miss by inches, my claws sinking into moss and dirt. Her laughter echoes through the bond-a flash of warmth, teasing and wild. Catch me, she dares.
You’re asking for trouble, I shoot back.
You are trouble.
She spins suddenly, slamming into me with the force of a thunderclap and we roll across the ground in a
blur of fur and flame, snarls turning to laughter when she ends up straddling my chest. Her claws press lightly against my throat-not enough to break skin, just enough to make my pulse hammer.
Cheater, I growl.
Strategist, she corrects, grinning wide enough to show fangs.
I flip her easily, pinning her beneath me, my muzzle brushing her jaw. The heat between us hums brighter, that spark that never really goes away, catching flame again. Her eyes meet mine, and the world narrows to that single point of connection. Then she shifts, the hell hound fading, her skin returning beneath my hands. She’s human again, bare, flushed and fucking radiant.
“Not fair,” I rasp, shifting back.
She cups my jaw, her thumb tracing the edge of one buning mark on my cheek. “You never play fair
either.”
That grin kills me. We’re both breathing hard now, the cent of smoke and wild earth heavy between us.
She’s sprawled beneath me, grass tangled in her hair, her chest rising and falling fast.
“Kael,” she whispers.

Just that. My name. It shouldn’t undo me the way it does, but it does every damn time. I lower my head.
until our foreheads touch and her breath ghosts across my lips.
“This,” I murmur, “this is the only place I ever feel right”
She tilts her chin up, her mouth barely brushing mine. Then stay here,” she says softly. “Stay right here.”
Her hands slide over my shoulders, my back, down to where the last of the fire still burns under my skin. I
kiss her once, slow and deep as she pulls me closer, fingers curling into my hair, and everything else fades.
There’s just her.
Her body arches beneath mine, a perfect fit, like she was carved from the same fire that forged me.
Allison’s fingers dig into my shoulders, nails scraping lines of heat that make my blood roar. I kiss her
harder, devouring the gasp she lets out, our tongues tangling in a rhythm that’s as primal as our beasts.
She’s all softness and strength, her legs wrapping around my waist, pulling me down until there’s no space left between us. The grass crushes under our weight, cool against the inferno building in my veins.
“Gods, Kael,” she breathes, her voice a husky plea that shatters my restraint. Her hands roam lower, tracing
the ridges of my abdomen, then lower still, wrapping around me with a grip that’s bold and unyielding. I
groan into her mouth, the sound more animal than man, my hips grinding against her in response. As a
siphon, she draws from me, not just my power, but everything. My essence, my soul. And I give it willingly,
pouring into her like flame to kindling. I shift my weight, one hand sliding between us to tease her, fingers
circling her clit with deliberate slowness. She bucks against me, a whimper escaping her lips, her eyes
fluttering shut. “Don’t tease,” she demands, but there’s laughter in it, that wild spark that drives me insane.
I chuckle low, nipping at her collarbone. “Patience, love I murmur, but I’m the one trembling now, my
control fraying as her magic hums against mine, pulling threads of fire from my core.
When I finally push inside her, she cries out, her back bowing off the ground, nails raking down my back
hard enough to draw blood. The pain mixes with pleasure, fueling the beast in me. I thrust deep and slow
at first, savouring every inch, every gasp she makes. Her legs tighten around me, heels digging into my
thighs as she meets me stroke for stroke. We’re a storm how, bodies slamming together in a frenzy of need.
Flames flicker along my skin, harmless to her but dancing like embers in the night. She siphons them, drawing my power into her, her eyes glowing with that lue-gold fire that’s all her own.
“Fuck, Allison,” I growl, my voice ragged. I bury my face in her neck, inhaling her scent. No one will ever hurt her. The thought surges through me, possessive and fierce, making my movements rougher, deeper. She loves it, her moans turning to cries, her hands fisting in my hair as she pulls me closer. I feel her tightening around me, her body clenching in waves, and I angle my hips to hit that spot that makes her shatter. She comes first, her scream echoing through the trees, and I follow her over the edge with a roar that shakes the ground. Pleasure crashes through me, white-hot and endless. Her body milks me dry, every
