Three Years Later, He Came Back Begging novel Chapter 290

Bonnie listened to the recording. Beyond her initial shock, a chaotic storm of anger, sorrow, helplessness, and sheer confusion swept through her chest.

It was a relentless tempest tearing at her mind.

She sat in silence for a long time. She couldn't even remember when Patton finally switched off the playback.

Her thoughts fixated on Hannah's intricate facade. It was a meticulously crafted cage designed to trap them all.

The lock was forged entirely from Lawrence and his parents' sense of moral duty and responsibility.

That was far more terrifying than if Hannah had actually lost her mind and been trapped in a genuine psychosis.

Bonnie had no idea what the Lane family would think of this right now. All she could do was let out a long, heavy sigh, overwhelmed by the sheer exhaustion of having finally escaped the snare.

Even if she hadn't broken up with Lawrence three years ago, their relationship would never have survived. Not with an allegedly mentally unstable Hannah constantly looming over them.

Bonnie knew exactly how suffocating it was to be trapped by obsession. As a perfectly sane person, she still struggled to walk out of the shadow of that relationship—let alone Hannah, who was dealing with real psychological demons.

But it had come to this, and Hannah had brought it entirely upon herself.

There was no lie in this world that could be hidden forever.

Bonnie took a deep breath, settling her turbulent emotions before looking across the desk. "Patton, with this recording, can we file charges against Hannah directly?"

Patton stayed silent for a moment before shaking his head. "We can submit the application and the evidence to the court and see what happens. But audio recorded in a private setting like this is notoriously difficult to admit as hard evidence. A few recorded conversations aren't enough for a direct conviction. The best-case scenario is for Hannah to turn herself in. Otherwise, we're in for a long, drawn-out legal battle."

Bonnie calculated the timeline in her head. Based on previous years, her graduate school interviews would start in early May. She still had plenty of time. No matter how long this dragged out, as long as she did her best, she would have no regrets.

She stood up, thanked Patton, and walked out of the police precinct.

When she returned home and told her parents everything, Shirley and Bachelor fell into a stunned silence before sighing heavily.

They didn't say much else. After all, this level of twisted manipulation felt entirely alien to an ordinary family's life.
