Three Years Later, He Came Back Begging novel Chapter 435

Every single night, at her slightest movement, he would wake up to help her to the bathroom or massage her aching legs. Now, he was sleeping so deeply he didn't even stir. A sharp pang of guilt and fierce love squeezed Bonnie's chest. She grabbed a throw pillow, placed it on the floor beside the sofa, and sat down to watch him sleep. She might be the one carrying the child, but Lawrence hadn't rested either. With him around, she barely had to lift a finger. She always joked that he was a machine, never complaining about being tired or inconvenienced. But even machines needed to power down. She rested her cheek gently against the edge of the sofa cushion and loosely hooked her pinky around his finger. Lawrence had been up since dawn for his trip, sat through endless meetings, and rushed back to handle a mountain of corporate fires. He was utterly drained and had only meant to close his eyes for a minute. He ended up sleeping for over forty minutes. When he finally stirred, he groggily wondered why Abbot hadn't come in to wake him. Before he even opened his eyes, he sensed someone beside him. Feeling a hand holding his fingers, he jolted, instinctively pulling his hand back as his eyes snapped open. The moment his gaze locked onto her, the panic in his chest dissolved, instantly replaced by a surge of adrenaline. He scrambled up, reaching out to pull her to her feet. "Why are you sitting on the floor? Why didn't you wake me?" Bonnie hadn't been sleeping, just resting her eyes. Seeing him frantic, she smiled and practically burrowed into his chest. Lawrence let out a helpless, breathless laugh, wrapping his strong arms around her to hoist her onto the sofa, carefully protecting her stomach. "You work so hard. I wanted you to rest," she murmured, rubbing her cheek against his chest. "My legs fell asleep." Lawrence rested his chin on the top of her head, his large hand warmly enveloping her baby bump. With his wife and unborn child safely in his arms, every ounce of exhaustion evaporated. "I'm not tired at all. I was just catching a quick nap," he lied smoothly, his hands already moving to massage her calves to get the blood flowing again. Bonnie didn't buy it. Between the pregnancy hormones and her hypersensitivity, being wrapped in his protective, comforting embrace suddenly made her throat tight. A wave of emotion hit her out of nowhere. By the time Lawrence felt the dampness soaking through his shirt, it was too late. He was used to her sudden tearful outbursts lately. He leaned in, pressing soft, reassuring kisses all over her face, whispering sweet coaxing words that usually did the trick. But this time, she only cried harder. Realizing she was crying because she felt bad for him, Lawrence let out a heavy sigh. He tilted her chin up and captured her lips in a deep, desperate kiss. Compared to the physical toll her body was taking, doing a few extra chores was nothing. He only wished he could take the physical burden of the pregnancy from her. After a few minutes, Bonnie pulled back, feeling slightly embarrassed by her own dramatic display. Sniffling, she nestled into his warmth and started chattering about her day. She told him about the two brilliant junior designers she interviewed, the amazing catered lunch Yvonne ordered, and her ravenous appetite. Then, she recounted her conversation with Yvonne. When she mentioned wanting to set Yvonne up, Lawrence casually suggested Quentin, since he had gone through a breakup last year and was back on the market. Quentin was a great catch, and Bonnie genuinely considered it. But then she remembered Perry Parker, the younger guy from her university who was still hopelessly infatuated with Yvonne. She sighed, shaking her head. "I'm staying out of it. Yvonne is more decisive than I am. She can choose for herself when the time comes." Lawrence chuckled, his chest rumbling against her ear. "You're incredibly decisive. You're the one who made the final call on all of Zoo Studio's major projects." Bonnie felt a flare of pride at that, a smug little smile playing on her lips before it faded into a pout. "I meant with relationships. Look at me, strung along by you for ten years, and I still ended up choosing you. I have terrible judgment." "I chased you relentlessly until you had no way out," Lawrence corrected smoothly. Bonnie let out a sudden laugh. He was right. They had tangled their lives together so thoroughly that this was the only way it could have ended. "So... in our next life, are you going to chase me again?" she asked softly. "Every single lifetime. I'll never stop chasing you." "Can you find me a little earlier next time?" she whispered greedily. Lawrence smiled, his thumb stroking her cheek. "How early? Like Helen and Ned? Born in the exact same hospital?" Bonnie nodded seriously. "I'd like that. Childhood sweethearts. That sounds perfect." "Then I'd better spend the rest of this life racking up good karma, so the universe lets me find you the second you're born in the next one."
