Three Years Later, He Came Back Begging novel Chapter 441

Lawrence told her that their son had pressed two cups of fresh juice that day, and the one he made specifically for his mom was currently sitting in their fridge.

Bonnie immediately tried to scramble out of bed to drink it—she absolutely refused to let her son's hard work go to waste—but Lawrence pinned her back down. Hayden had explicitly said he wanted to watch his mom drink it during breakfast the next morning.

She relented, but the guilt in her chest only grew heavier. Whether as a mother or a father, missing the major milestones in your child's life was a bitter pill to swallow.

Lawrence kissed her softly, reassuring her that she was already an incredible mother. No one was perfect, and a few missed events in the grand scheme of things didn't make her a bad parent.

Besides, their son had actually approached his teacher and explained that his mom was working very hard and couldn't make it to Parent-Child Day, which was why he needed a to-go cup to bring the juice home for her.

The teacher had practically melted, praising Hayden for being such an empathetic, mature boy.

Hearing that, Bonnie's heart swelled with a fierce, aching pride. She buried her face in Lawrence's chest, her voice muffled against his skin. "I'll definitely be there next time. I've just been buried in work lately with Yvonne out on maternity leave, and I can't afford to take my eyes off the Heritage Creative Hub project. Once this phase is over, I swear I'm taking time off to just be with you two."

Lawrence ran a soothing hand through her hair and chuckled. "Don't burn yourself out. You have to learn how to delegate. You've trained a brilliant team under you—use them."

Bonnie nodded against him. "I know. I won't run myself into the ground."

There was honestly nothing left for Lawrence to teach her. Over the last few years, Bonnie's growth had been exponential; she was a sharp, seasoned CEO in her own right. But occasionally, behind closed doors, when it was just the two of them, she would soften and lean on him.

It made him feel like he was holding the eighteen-year-old girl he'd fallen in love with, stirring up that primal need to protect her and fuss over every little detail of her life.

Lawrence pressed a kiss to the crown of her head and seamlessly brought the conversation back to their son. "Oh, you want to hear something else amazing about our boy? They hosted a chess tournament at the kindergarten today. Hayden got paired with a kid who's been taking lessons for a while. Considering our son only learned how to play a week ago, he was getting absolutely crushed in the beginning. I was terrified he was going to get upset, so I tried to sneak him a hint. Do you want to guess what he said to me?"
