In that split second, Bonnie instantly knew exactly who Zoey was talking about.
He really was strikingly handsome.
He stood out effortlessly in the crowd, not just because of his looks, but his raw, commanding presence.
Bonnie's gaze swept over his sharp features, but then she froze. Her eyes accidentally locked perfectly with his. He was visibly caught off guard. In that fleeting moment of distraction, the ball he was supposed to shoot was cleanly stolen right out of his hands by a defender.
Normally, a player would instantly pivot and chase down the ball, but he seemed completely frozen in place, staring at Bonnie from across the pavement.
Bonnie's cheeks flared with sudden heat. She grabbed Zoey's arm and practically dragged her away.
Zoey, still completely distracted by the eye candy, managed to steal a few more glances over her shoulder before excitedly whispering to Bonnie, "I'm telling you, that's a senior! He's super famous around here. I think his name is Lawrence. He's the principal's son!"
"I've seen his pictures on the school forum..."
Hearing the name, Bonnie felt a spark of recognition. She remembered it was the name of the student her mother was constantly praising.
Top of his class, impeccable character, and the son of Principal Odette.
She just hadn't realized he was that good-looking.
Once they had put some distance between themselves and the courts, Bonnie couldn't stop herself from stealing one last glance over her shoulder as they rounded the corner.
Even with so many people on the court, and the glaring sunlight bleeding into the background, Bonnie's eyes landed directly on his silhouette.
He wasn't playing anymore. He was leaning against the basketball hoop, staring intently in her direction.
Bonnie instantly snapped her head back around.
...
Lawrence stood in silence, watching the spot where Bonnie had vanished until she was completely out of sight.
A teammate yelled for him to get back in the game, but Lawrence just grabbed his school jacket and water bottle. "I'm done. Heading home."
