Three Years Later, He Came Back Begging novel Chapter 469

The summer after graduation was one of the rare stretches of pure, uninterrupted freedom in Bonnie's life. The crushing weight of her academic pressure vanished overnight. There were no more midnight study sessions, no more panic-inducing alarms at dawn. Her parents even took her on a week-long vacation to Southpoint.

Shortly after returning home, a thick envelope arrived in the mail. Her official acceptance letter to The Cabinda University.

With her future secured, the only thing left on her to-do list was brushing up on her sketching to ensure she aced the architecture department's entrance assessment.

As a reward for her flawless exam scores, Shirley bought her a brand-new laptop and a sleek new phone, finally returning the old one she had confiscated two years prior.

Neither of them brought up the incident.

The very first thing Bonnie did when she got to her bedroom was plug the old phone into a charger.

It took a long time to power up.

She didn't have many close friends to begin with, so her WhatsApp was relatively dead. Her thumb hovered over the screen as she thought of Lawrence—the person who used to account for practically every notification she ever received.

But he was gone. Deleted.

After agonizing for a few minutes, Bonnie pulled up her contacts, copied the phone number saved simply as 'L', and pasted it into the WhatsApp search bar. She told herself she was just curious. But the moment she hit search, that familiar, solid black profile picture popped up.

He hadn't changed his name or his photo in two years. Yet, staring at his profile, Bonnie's courage completely evaporated.

She let out a long sigh and closed the app.

When September rolled around and classes officially kicked off, Bonnie quickly bonded with one of her new roommates, Helen.

There were four girls in their dorm, but the other two were practically attached at the hip. Helen was fiercely loyal, effortlessly straightforward, and fiercely authentic. The two clicked instantly and became fast friends.

On the final day of Freshman Drill Week, Bonnie and Helen were walking toward the dining hall. The campus pathways were flooded with freshmen sporting the exact same olive-green tactical gear, making them stick out like sore thumbs among the upperclassmen.
