Three Years Later, He Came Back Begging novel Chapter 473

Lawrence's sharp instincts immediately screamed that he had pushed too far. He cursed himself for getting cocky. Why did he have to tease her? He was practically digging his own grave.

"Hey, wait, don't be mad," Lawrence murmured, his voice dropping into a desperate, velvet coax. "I was just messing with you. I'm sorry, alright? I don't want to be your friend because I want more than that. Bonnie, I like you. I've been completely out of my mind for you since day one."

Bonnie's heart violently skipped a beat. The words hit her like a tidal wave, tearing down the iron walls she had built around herself for years.

Lawrence held her gaze, refusing to let her look away. "I've been waiting for you for two years."

Waiting for her to grow up.

"I've never had a girlfriend. I've never even looked at another girl. It was love at first sight for me. I don't want to be your classmate, or your upperclassman, or your friend. I want to be your boyfriend. Is that okay?"

Bonnie desperately tried to maintain her icy facade, but inside, her heart was practically doing backflips. She realized with terrifying clarity that she was completely, hopelessly doomed.

She had no idea she liked him this much.

But there was absolutely no way she was going to surrender the second he confessed. They had literally just reunited.

She needed to win this.

Lifting her chin another inch, she struck a pose of total, unbothered arrogance. Lawrence caught the slight tremble of her lips, his eyes dancing with amusement. He found her fake hostility incredibly adorable.

Truthfully, she had never actually been cold to him. To Lawrence, she was still the sweet, vulnerable girl who used to hide in the corners of her house and text him her deepest frustrations.

He couldn't help but wonder if she had suffered over the past two years while he wasn't there to protect her. Had she been overwhelmed by the pressure? Did she cry herself to sleep when the house was completely silent?

He wanted to pull her against his chest and tell her that from now on, if she needed to cry, she was only allowed to do it in his arms.

"So you've just been plotting against me this whole time?" Bonnie scoffed softly. "I am absolutely not saying yes. Don't think just because we're in college you suddenly have a free pass. I still have to focus on my degree!"

Lawrence let out a low chuckle. "Who says dating ruins your GPA? I'll personally monitor your study schedule. I'll make sure you graduate top of your class. Trust me, being with me is an excellent investment."
